Portal - The Turret Anthem [video]

Music surrounds us everyday. You just need to know where to look and have a listening ear throughout your day. One fan of the video game Portal has created this great music video that he has titled "The Turret Anthem" that features none other than the turrets from Portal. This is a clever video and very well made. Once the song starts to pick up it gets quite catchy as well! Enjoy!
"This video was shot on black void, using a rebuild version of glados' chamber that I put together by hand. Fun story about this video, I've been trying to make it for about 6 months, it's a super late Turret Week video. I kept overthinking it, and had much of the principal synchronization done but couldnt' figure out how I wanted to shoot it, well I sat down this weekend and knocked it out in two days, and I'm pretty sure nobody will have any problem with the results. The name of this video is The Turret Anthem, but throughout production I always referred to it by…

Live action Super Smash Bros Brawl fight - Mario vs Luigi! [video]

A man can only take so much before enough is enough and he must stand up for himself. This video creates a fight scene from Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl between Mario and his brother Luigi. The fight scene does a great job at displaying each brothers fighting style and the special effects are well done.
"Tired of being in Mario's shadow Luigi proves that he can be SUPER too!

This parody created to make fun of Mario & Luigi's speech pattern, movement & overall character. A commentary on their fighting styles & differences."

The Hobbit reimagined as a children's picture book!

J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit is a classic young adult novel that has been exciting readers for generations. For many, this was a book that launched their adult reading "career". But what would happen if we could introduce this classic story to a younger audience? Artist Rosemary Travale has answered that question with a few illustrations that are truly incredible.

Modeled after the Little Golden Books series that have helped children read for years, Travale's illustrations turn The Hobbit into a great children's tale. If these first few drawings are any indication, this book would be amazing! I would love to see Travale complete this book! What do you think of these drawings? Do you think The Hobbit would work as a Little Golden Book?

To make things a little cooler the commemorative coin will come packaged in a mini TARIDS box. The coin will be available on February 1st.

BBC America presents Doctor Who Revisited: William Hartnell! [video]

For the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, BBC America will be presenting a brand new special every month focusing on each incarnation of the Doctor. The specials will be called Doctor Who Revisited and will start this month with the first special focusing on the first Doctor, William Hartnell. To make this even better, BBC America will be airing a classic Doctor  Who story directly after the special. No word yet on what story they will be airing  but I would bet that the original story "An Unearthly Child" has a shot at being chosen.

Doctor Who Revisited will air on BBC America on Sunday, January 27th at 9c followed by a classic 1964 Doctor Who.

J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode 7!

Big news for Star Wars fans! It is being reported that  J.J. Abrams has been selected to direct the next installment of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Episode VII!  According to Deadline's source, “It’s done deal with J.J.”.

This is very big news considering just a year ago Abrams had stated that he did not want the job. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy led the mission to recruit Abrams to direct Episode VII (which has a tentative release date for 2015) and must have said all the right things. Abrams will direct from a script written by Michael Arndt.

What do you think about this directing announcement? Does anyone else think it's rather interesting that Abrams will now be in control of both Star Wars and Star Trek?

First photos have been released of Once Upon A Time's "Jack"!

Once Upon A Time has already brought "Jack and the Beanstalk" into the show during the episode "Tallahassee" where we met actor Jorge Garcia as the Giant atop the beanstalk. The one character that we did not get to see was "Jack" himself. However, that is all going to change!

*Possible Spoilers Ahead*

It has been revealed that actress Cassidy Freeman (known for her role as Tess Mercer on Smallville) has been cast as Jack on Once Upon A Time. That's right! In this version of the story, Jack will be portrayed by a woman. Once Upon A Time hasn't stayed completely "by the book" on the stories that they have been incorporating, so a change like this shouldn't be too much of a shock to fans. How do you feel about this gender change?

Freeman will make her debut on Once Upon A Time on the episode titled "Tiny" that will air on February 10, 2013.

Doctor Who fans were excited when they found out that John Barrowman had been cast on the CW's new show Arrow. Now, as another Doctor Who alum heads over to play a role in the DC universe, they have another reason to cheer.

*Possible Spoilers Ahead*

Actress Alex Kingston, known for her role as River Song on Doctor Who and Dr. Elizabeth Corday on ER, has been cast on Arrow as Dinah Lance (Laurel's mother). Right now it is not known what kind of affect this character will have on the show but it is known that Kingston has signed on to appear in several episodes.

Functional Iron Man laser gauntlet! [video]

Comic fans always wish that they could become a superhero and save the day in some heroic way but those aspirations usually stop at the "wish" level. However, one fan has become one step closer to the real thing by creating a working Iron Man gauntlet. Marvel fan Patrick Priebe created his own gauntlet complete with a retractable laser gun!

In the video below you can see the laser take out some balloon targets. The entire mechanism was handmade with two 1.2-watt blue lasers. The lasers are fired from the firearm and the palm repulsor. The entire mechanism is powered by two lithium-ion batteries and even has targeting lasers for aiming. The video shows you the mechanism in several stages of development and is truly amazing. Well done, Patrick! Can't wait to see what you build next!
