Thundercats Are On The Loose - Thundercats Review

Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose. Feel the magic, hear the roar, Thundercats are loose!

Cartoon Network as finally aired the first episode of the new Thundercats and it definitely came in with a roar. This show will appeal to classic Thundercats fans and those new to the series.

Notable voice actors in this new series include Larry Kennedy (who voiced Lion-O / Jackalman / Snarf in the original Thundercats) as King Claudus, Will Friedle as Lion-O, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Cheetara, Matthew Mercer as Tygra, Corey Burton as Jaga, and Clancy Brown as Grune the Destroyer. The voices in the show are fantastic and really add to the feeling of the show that original fans are looking for.
Spoilers ahead.

Right off the bat, the animation style is nice and fluid and filled with vibrant colors. They've done an amazing job and the voice acting was done really well for this first episode. I really liked the animation style for the mech warriors that was just slightly different t…

3DS Price Cut and Nintendo Ambassadors

Nintendo hasn't had the expected long-term sales on their 3DS system as they expected and many consumers will point out that this may be due to lack of quality launch titles and the expensive $250 price tag. Now that Playstation is set to have their PSVita be released with a similar $250 price tag Nintendo is looking to correct some of their mistakes and get sales back in their favor. They are however taking an interesting approach to do this. Many fans will be excited to hear that the Nintendo 3DS will go from $249.99 to $169.99 on August 12 in the U.S. (Price cuts will also happen around the world.) Apparently, this price cut will mean that Nintendo will be selling the 3DS at a loss per console. However, they feel that the line of new games coming out will make up for this small loss per console.

"For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "We are givin…

Battleship - From Board Game to Movie

Yes, you read the heading right. Battleship, the beloved simple board game about sinking your friend's hidden naval ships, is being turned into a full length film. If I don't hear at least one person shout out, "You sunk my battleship!" during this movie then this movie has failed at its job. Then again, after some of you watch the "teaser" trailer (aren't teasers supposed to be around 30 seconds?) you may say that the movie already failed. In an attempt to not paint one particular nation as the 'enemy' the bad guys in this movie are aliens. Yes, aliens! Director Peter Berg states that "like in the game each side of the conflict will have a small fleet of five ships. The aliens are part of a scouting party, not a full-fledged invading force, and the humans will be cut off from the rest of the world. And the Naval ships will have their radar disabled, so they will have to strategize to figure out where their enemies are lurking." Will…

Review - Captain America: The First Avenger

The serum has been injected and Captain America is here to stay. Fans who thought this would just be a glorified war movie can rest easy. The many easter eggs and tie ins to the Marvel universe that this movie has makes it feel like a true super hero movie while delivering a great period piece. Possible spoilers ahead.

There is pretty good pacing throughout the entire film and I was pleasantly surprised at the great acting. Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America does an amazing job at capturing the 'goodness' of the character and delivering the fact that that is what drives him. If I could add just one thing it would be the hardcore side of the character from the comics. At no point in the movie does Cap put his troops in line or raise his voice at all which was weird but maybe that is because Steve Rogers was still new to leading troops. Moving on you have Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. Although the character is not that deep and love story between herself and Steve Ro…

'Avatar: Legend of Korra' Trailer and Image Excites Fans

The much anticipated trailer for the upcoming Avatar: The Legend of Korra has been released along with a brand new still image of the main character, Korra, at San Diego Comic Con. The image (right) features Korra riding her yet-unnamed Animal Guide, a polar bear dog. Copies of this image are being sold at the Nickelodeon booth.

The trailer (below) shows us how much the world has changed while featuring some familiar music that really sets the tone. We get glimpses of what the new Republic City looks like as well as some battle sequences. We also see a Fire Nation girl a few times throughout the trailer which makes us wonder who she will be and men in gray who might be members of the group of people called Anti-Benders who are strongly against the art of bending. Definitely an exciting traielr!

Thundercats 9 Minute Preview Returns!

Its back! (But for how long?) I had previously reported on how a 9 minute clip of the new Thundercats had surfaced but unfortunately disappeared quickly. I have found another copy that will hopefully stick around for a little while so that you can get to see it. Check it out below and see if you feel that the Thundercats franchise is in good hands. Enjoy!
