Wizards' Duel - Auror Vs. Death Eater

An incredibly well made fan film of a Harry Potter inspired wizards' duel has surfaced that has made me really excited and sad at the same time. Created by Leo Kei Angelos this wizarding duel is everything that I have wanted to see from a duel; a variety of spells, hand-to-hand close combat, an intense atmosphere, and an all around bad-ass feeling. Although I'm sad because this short clip is better than anything we have seen in the actual Harry Potter films thus far and I almost feel that that opinion won't change after The Deathly Hallows Part 2 if we get more of what we've seen. Anyway, watch and enjoy!

Gamer Thoughts: Disney's Epic Mickey

Everything up to the release of Epic Mickey got me more and more excited for the game and when I got to sit in on Warren Spector's panel at New York Comic Con and hear him talk about the game and show footage I just couldn't be happier at what I heard. The one thing on my mind was that I did not want this to be a repeat of past games that had such great promise and burned me in the end. Would Epic Mickey live up to the hype that was being put around it?

I recently finished the game and I would highly recommend this to any Disney fan. I had a wonderful time playing it and the game really is a tribute to the works of Walt Disney. At $50 the game is more than worth the money since there is a lot of unlockables to collect and two paths to take; 'good' Mickey and 'evil' Mickey.

Presentation: The game is visually stunning and the animation style for the cut-scenes has a rugged oil painting look to it that fits into the whole theme of the game. The color sc…

Harry Potter: The Exhibition stops in NYC!

Fans will be delighted to hear that Harry Potter: The Exhibition will be making one final stop in New York City before it leaves North America to start its international tour. The exhibition will open its doors at Discovery Times Square in New York City at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, and will run through Monday, September 5, 2011.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition is a traveling exhibit displaying over two-hundred props from the Harry Potter films. Fans will get to enjoy the props up close and admire the detail that went into them while walking through elaborate locations like the Gryffindor common room, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Hagrid's hut, the Great Hall, and the Forbidden Forest.

I got to visit the exhibition last year while it was in Boston and I highly recommend this to all Harry Potter fans! I was truly in awe while walking around and I froze when entering the Quidditch tent!

The Turtles Are Back!

Over the past few days I had been reading rumors that Nickelodeon had picked up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a new show in 2012. I wasn't a fan of the last 'new show' so I didn't know that had finished yet. But it has now been confirmed by The Wall Street Journal that these rumors were indeed true and that Nickelodeon feels that they can breath some more life into this beloved franchise. Not much information is yet known about this series but we do know that it will be CG animation and the show will apparently focus on individual character attributes.

From the promotional photo released from Nickelodeon we can see that all the basics of the Turtles are there - although Michaelangelo's nunchucks are a bit fuzzy. We can see that the Turtles will have individual skin tones (raise your hand if you remember Donatello with a green/brown-ish tone when you were little!) and will be wearing strategically placed athletic tape, either for intimidation or due to injur…

N64 Goes Portable!

A forum member on the Modded by Bacteria forums by the name of Hailrazer has created an amazing mod for the Nintendo 64. Solving his problem of wanting to play his N64 where ever he wanted, Hailrazer created a mod that he has named the "N64boy Advance" and looks like this:

He specifically modded it to suit his gaming needs and as you can see he uses a Gamecube joystick instead of a Nintendo 64 one, he's decreased the smaller trigger buttons on top which he says he hardly uses and has completely removed the d-pad for the same reason. The case itself is an old Game Boy Advance carrying case with speakers put in, a 4.3-inch display, and a couple camcorder batteries built in to power it. Check out the video to watch Hailrazer speak about his creation and show you how it works. You'll get a look at the inside of the carrying case and get to watch him play a few seconds of four different games to show you that it works. You can also check out some of his ot…

Harry Potter: The Quest

In order to get fans more excited for the release of The Deathly Hallows Part 1 on Blu-ray and DVD (April 15th), Warner Bros. Entertainment has opened the site Harry Potter: The Quest. Registered users of this site (registration is free) will be able to watch videos and play games in order to earn points as a global community. As the points add up the community will earn exclusive content and videos.

On top of the community rewards, registered users will also be eligible for monthly prizes that will include Noble Collection Harry Potter merchandise, tickets to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, Blu-rays, DVDs, Games and more.

The overall concept of this site seems fun and will definitely appeal to those people who love watching online cast and behind-the-scenes videos but it's a good thing that points are tallied as a global community because it seems that content and appeal may run out quickly. Fans may find it easier to check in ever few days to s…

Avatar: Legend of Korra

Following the widely popular series Avatar: The Last Aibender, series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have been working on the spin-off series Avatar: Legend of Korra. This 12 episode mini-series is set to air in 2012.

Legend of Korra will take place 75 years after The Last Airbender and will feature all new locations with Republic City being a main focal point. Republic City is said to be a metropolis powered by "steampunk-type" technology that will be populated by people from all four nations. Within Republic City Korra will have to deal with a group of people called Anti-Benders who are strongly against the art of bending along with the rampant crime in the city. Korra herself is described as a rebellious girl from the Southern Water Tribe who is ready to take on the world. She has already mastered the art of bending Water, Earth, and Fire and is now beginning her training in Airbending. Fans will be delighted to see that her Airbending teacher is A…

Battlestar Galactica Timeline

If you were a Battlestar Galactica fan but sometimes found yourself confused about when things happened and in what order, then this is the perfect picture for you. Billy Ray Stephens Jr. has created the ultimate Battlestar Galactica timeline. This timeline doesn't include Caprica as a whole but does include its pilot movie. (Which is probably better because most fans don't want to admit that that show existed. Myself included. Great concept. Good moments. Lame overall.) The in-depth timeline covers human, clyon, and centurion actions from the entire series. Click the photo to enlarge.
