Could we get a Middle Earth theme park in the future?

Rumors have begun circulating about the possibility that there could be a Middle Earth (The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings) theme park in the works. If these rumors are true, it would be awesome!

It is being reported that Universal has been in talks with the Tolkien Estate about creating the park. It is also being reported that representatives from the Tolkien Estate have been in contact with JK Rowling to discuss her experience with Universal and opening The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida.

With the success of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter it is not a surprise that parks are looking to capitalize on other large fandoms. I know that I would certainly travel down to Florida to have fun in a Middle Earth theme park. Would you be interested? What kinds of attractions do you think they would create for the park?

A very big thank you to Mary M. for the heads up on such a great article topic!

Could JK Rowling be writing a Doctor Who story?

JK Rowling, the well known author of the Harry Potter series, could be getting ready to write an adventure for Doctor Who! So far this is still all speculation but completely plausible.

As part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, the BBC has announced that they will be publishing 11 new short stories (one for each Doctor) written by "well known children's authors". Considering that Doctor Who usually keeps the show a British production, it is very likely that the "well known children's authors" will be those that have had a very strong impact in the UK.

In light of this it is reasonable to assume that JK Rowling would have been contacted about writing one of these stories. However, at the moment the BBC is keeping a very tight lid on who these authors are. A BBC press release stated,
"A paperback of the stories will be published by Puffin in November.

The first children’s author will be revealed on the BBC Worldwide …

New image for Man of Steel shows a serious Superman.

A new image has been released for the upcoming film Man of Steel. In this new intense shot, Henry Cavill is looking off into the distance with a serious look on his face. You can see that Superman is trying to work something out in this photo but we won't know what until the movie hits theaters. The interesting thing about this photo is that Superman has military tanks and helicopters behind him. What do you think of this new image? What do you think Superman is looking at or thinking?

RBS' Gaming Corner - Journey (PS3)

I began 2013 by going on a beautiful journey that opened my eyes to the world of independent (indy) games. On New Years Day I finally got to play the critically acclaimed indy game from ThatGameCompany, Journey, for the Playstation 3. I was stunned at the beauty of this game. The game itself is short at about an hour and a half to two hours on a straight run but players have the luxury of exploring the massive open environment which can increase the play time and enjoyment you experience.

The games controls are very easy as they only consist of four buttons/actions; character movement, camera movement, jumping/flight, and “talking”. The game easily walks you through these controls in the opening moment which is quite nice.

The music in the game is beautiful and rightly captures the moment from the beautiful exploration and discovery of new ruins to the heart-pounding moments you encounter the game’s “enemy” (the term is used loosely here). Visually the game is absolutely stunning an…

Awesome Superman fan art shows us a wiser Man of Steel!

Take a look at this fantastic piece of art from James Kei that features a fantastic stylistic take on our favorite Kryptonian; Superman. Walking in (presumably) his Fortress of Solitude, we see an older, wiser Superman with a slightly modified suit and flowing cape. What do you think of this piece?

Mario Warfare - Part 2 [video]

Beatdownboogie has just released the second part to Mario Warfare, a parody web series that combines the world of Super Mario Bros. and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. If you didn't get a chance to view Part 1, you can see it here. Part 3 will be coming out soon but the creators have created a kickstarter in order to get funding for future episodes.

The newest part runs 10 minutes 34 seconds long and has a slightly different tone than the first part. Part 1 had a serious tone while Part 2 introduces Mario and Luigi and has a slightly more comical tone thanks to our plumber heroes. Watch as Mario and Luigi enter the battle and take care of Bowser's troops plumber style! Enjoy!

Doctor Who's Alphabet of Death!

Despite being a fun, family show, Doctor Who has it's fair share of deaths on the show. Deviant Artist EatToast noticed this and has made a fantastic comic that compiles some truly memorable deaths from the show. EatToast's drawings are modeled after Edward Gorey's The Gashylycrumb Tinies which  is a twisted alphabet book that describes the gruesome, and unfortunate fates of children. EatToast has named her version The Gallifreycrumb Tinies and features deaths from the classic series as well as the current series of Doctor Who.
