Nintendo Celebrates It's 122nd Birthday!

Happy 122nd Birthday, Nintendo!
122 years? That's right! Let's take a (very) brief look at Nintendo's history.
Not many people realize that Nintendo was founded in 1889 in Kyoto, Japan manufacturing Hanafuda cards. Nintendo pushed these playing cards until card sales dropped in 1964 making them look into other markets. Nintendo tried several new areas starting in 1963 including; a taxi company, a TV network, a love hotel chain (yes, you read that right. And yes, it's what you think), and a small food company.
Nintendo entered the gaming market in 1973 and explored their options and possibilities here. Nintendo first issued the Laser Clay Shooting System until it became too costly. Next, they worked on the Color TV Game console, then entered the arcade industry with EVR Race in 1975 (and eventually Donkey Kong in 1981 created by Miyamoto). In 1980 Nintendo entered the handheld market with Game & Watch and then in 1983 it released the Famicon System (also known as …

Doctor Who Season 7 Confirmed

Although it may be fantastic news that Season 7 of the British Sci-Fi show Doctor Who was confirmed, the date of the season is less than thrilling.

It has been confirmed that Season 7 of Doctor Who will take place during Autumn of 2012. We do not have an official schedule yet from the BBC but Doctor Who Magazine has confirmed the release timeframe.

Now that we know we'll have to wait a year before the next full season (not including the Christmas Special of course), do you think Moffat and the BBC will follow his trend and split Season 7 like he did with Season 6? Personally, I think it feels like they are taking advantage of fans who they know will come back even though they are dragging out the series.

However you look at this situation, the good news is that we are officially getting a Season 7.

Fire Emblem Coming to the 3DS!

It was officially announced at the Nintendo 3DS Conference in Japan that Fire Emblem will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Fire Emblem may not be one of the biggest franchises out there but its fans are loyal and news of a completely new game will have them excited. I know I am!

Unlike previous games released for the Nintendo DS, Fire Emblem for 3DS has 3D models just like the Wii and Gamecube games which is great to see. It really adds to the beauty of the game. The gameplay itself looks to be on par with what to expect from a Fire Emblem game and looks smooth and beautiful. One thing that definitely stands out is the ability to set up your team so that two fighters will go up against one enemy. One would assume that enemies might be able to do this as well. This adds a new level of strategy to the game that will definitely be fun to play around with.
