It's official - Paul Feig is making a new Ghostbusters film that will "star hilarious women".

Rumors have been circulating since August that there could be an all new Ghostbusters film and that it could be staring a female cast. It seems that those rumors may have just been confirmed.

Although this may not be the most popular decision it appears that it was true all along. Paul Feig tweeted the news today that he'll be making the new film and that it will "star hilarious women". This of course does not mean an all female cast but at the same time it doesn't not mean that. He also mentions that he'll be writing the script along with Katie Dippold (The Heat).

I am not yet sure how I feel about this myself but all the same it is out of my hands and it is happening. All we need now is the official word from Sony Pictures.

Are you excited for an all new Ghostbusters film? Do you like the idea of having an all female cast? Or possibly adding several females to the cast?

It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold &…

William Shatner is set to return to the Star Trek franchise in the next film!

Rumors circulated and fans theorized but it seems that William Shatner will officially be making his return to the Star Trek franchise in the next J.J. Abrams film. Shatner tweeted earlier a hint of his return by saying, "I'm baaaaccckk!!!" It has since been taken down but that only seems to fuel the fact that he is officially coming back. Badass Digest reported on the matter saying,
"My sources are now telling me that not only will Shatner be in the movie, his scene will have him meeting Chris Pine. Also in that scene: Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. But if my sources are steering me correct this won't be original timeline Spock - it'll be future alt-timeline Kirk and Spock. Basically the scene will have Kirk and Spock interacting with their future selves." How do you feel about William Shatner making a return to the franchise? Do you like the idea or feel that they may be playing around with the alternate timeline/time traveling idea a little too mu…

Funny alternate take from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope has Princess Leia taking her rescue into her own hands! [video]

Star Wars' Luke Skywalker may not have started out as the bold Jedi he grew to be but it appears that he may have been more of  wimp than we thought. Take a look at this funny footage that was "newly discovered" that shows an alternate take on Luke saving Princess Leia and swinging across the Death Star chasm with his grappling hook from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
"In this newly discovered footage from 1977's Star Wars, we see that Luke was reluctant about the safety of using that tiny grappling hook so Princess Leia had to take matters into her own hands."

Amazing Star Wars art shows off a young Master Yoda in his prime!

Take a look at this incredible piece of art from artist Marco Teixeira that shows what Master Yoda may have looked like as a young Jedi Master! Perhaps one day in one of the Disney Star Wars spin-off films we'll get to see Master Yoda in his prime and it would be really cool to see him young and taking charge during a different era of the Star Wars universe. There is a lot of detail in this piece and Teixeira did an amazing job!

Man At Arms: Reforged creates Squall's Gunblade (Final Fantasy VIII)! [video]

Man At Arms has created another iconic "geek" weapon and this time it is taken from the hit video game Final Fantasy VIII! This week the blacksmiths created Squall Leonhart's Gunblade! The engraving on the blade looks great and I really like that they have the bullet casings visible on the back of the bullet chamber. I think that is a great touch of detail! It's always a lot of fun watching these weapons be created. What geek weapons would you love to see be forged?

Watch this great Star Wars and Star Trek mash-up combing Star Wars' trench run with Star Trek's film score! [video]

Take a look at this really interesting movie mash-up that combines footage of the iconic Death Star trench run of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope with the musical score of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. I'm surprised at how well these synched up but I rather keep John Williams' score for the trench run.
"I like to mashup movie scenes with different music. This is the Star Wars Trench Run sequence playing with Michael Giacchino's climax score from the Star Trek reboot. The sync is uncanny." Enjoy!
