Athletes Gather In NYC For The Quidditch World Cup

In less than two weeks on November 12th and 13th witches, wizards, and muggles (non-wizard folk) from all over the world will be heading to Randall's Island in NYC for the fifth Quidditch World Cup. That's right, the sport made famous in the Harry Potter novels has become a real life sport. Started in 2005 at Middlebury College in Vermont, quidditch has progressed to a full contact, coed sport that is now played internationally. The International Quidditch Association now hosts hundreds of teams from all over the world in what is becoming a fast growing sport that is truly taking flight. While covering the 2010 World Cup TIME magazine reported that,
"Quidditch is a sport striving for legitimacy. It has a rule book, a governing body (the International Quidditch Association, a nonprofit) and its own live streaming webcasts. Its players move with the grace and ferocity of top athletes; the best of them look like lacrosse players and hit like linebackers. All told, 46 tea…

'Underworld: Awakening' Full Length Trailer

Yahoo Movies has posted the second trailer (first full length trailer) for the upcoming movie Underworld: Awakening. This trailer does a fantastic job of introducing us to the new direction this movie takes and makes me very excited to see this new installment in the Underworld franchise. Humans hunting down both Vampires and Lycans, a new hybrid being introduced, a whole new war, a new form of Lycan (that is huge!), and Kate Beckinsale back in her Death Dealer leather outfit ... I'm sold.

The trailer runs for 2 1/2 minutes and is action packed! Enjoy!

Link Raps Through Hyrule

Normally, fan made rap videos aren't that great. But I have to give it to the creators of this The Legend of Zelda rap video. They did a pretty good job and it is definitely worth watching through to the end. The acting and creative credits are more extensive than you would first imagine for a fan video and the work that they put into it really shows.

The rap itself is decent. Some parts are better than others but overall its pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that throughout the song it had a consistent flow. I really liked how they fit in some actual audio clips from the game into the song. That was a nice touch. I also like how they gave the characters a more modern twist to what they were wearing. This is nice for two reasons; it looks awesome (duh) and I recently had been imagining and creating my own modern looks for these characters for a possible side project. The costumes that they created look great. Many of the bigger players from Ocarina of Time stop by t…

30th Anniversary of Potters' Deaths

Today, October 31, 2011, marks the 30th anniversary of the day that two great literary characters died; Lily and James Potter. They were murdered by Lord Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle, while defending their son, Harry. Harry lived on due to the selfless acts of his parents. James confronted Lord Voldemort defending his family and was struck down. Lily put herself in between Lord Voldemort and her son and too paid with her life. However, it is because of these acts that we were lucky enough to experience the story of Harry Potter's young life. His story began when theirs ended. R.I.P Lily and James Potter.

*Characters are creations of J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series.

Garfield's Halloween Adventure! A classic Halloween cartoon! [video]

Happy Halloween, everyone!!
As a child I watched Garfield's Halloween Adventure (released in 1985) every year during Halloween. It was one of those shows that really made the holiday for me and it didn't feel like Halloween unless I saw it.

These days, the networks that used to show it must feel that children are no longer big Garfield fans because it sadly no longer airs on television. Either that or they no longer have the rights to it anymore. Either way this is a classic cartoon that must be watched. At only 24 minutes its a quick and fun watch and will definitely take you back to memories as a child watching it. If you have never seen it before (shame on you!), you should definitely watch it and make it part of your Halloween tradition. Enjoy the show, everyone! And Happy Halloween!! "Candy, candy, candy, candy candy...!"

EDIT: 10-31-13 - The video has been taken down (SADNESS) and I am in search of another copy but in the meantime you can still enjoy all the son…
