If you have ever played a new video game with a friend and had them try to explain the button controls as you are playing and dying then you'll definitely feel Batman's pain here. Mexican gymnast performs to The Legend of Zelda medly at the 2012 London Olympics! [video]

The world may have caught several fandom related references within London's Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics but there was one reference during competition that may have slipped by unnoticed.

During her qualification routine, Mexican gymnast Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas performed her floor routine to an arrangement of music from the video game franchise The Legend of Zelda. The arrangement used comprised of music created by Koji Kondo and included the original medley, the gerudo valley theme, and the lost woods theme which are all featured in the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Unfortunately for Elsa, she was only able to compete in two events because of an injured hand. Her score on the Balance Beam was a 12.400 and her Floor Routine was a 13.733, which was good enough to grab her 35th place.

I don't know how everyone else feels about using video game music in a world stage competition, but Elsa gained one more supporter after I watched this video. This was t…

Roboticist builds fully functional life-size Wall-E! [video]

Disney and Pixar released Wall-E in 2008 and ever since it's release, fans and children alike have loved the cute little robot who we have all come to know as Wall-E.

Mike Senna took this love to another level by building a life-size working robot of Wall-E. Senna had previously built a working R2-D2 but he is the first to build a life-size Wall-E. There were no blueprints or parts pre-made for this character so Senna spent hours watching and re-watching the movie to get everything just right from the scale and logos to the weathering of the paint job. He even had to create all new electronics to make it fully functional. This Wall-E can move around, looks around with his expressive eyes, wave hello, and say his name with his signature voice.

Senna Spent 25 hours a week for a total of 3,200-3,800 hours total building his robot. And it was paid all out of his own pocket. Senna now takes his Wall-E (and R2-D2) to events for City of Hope, a pediatric cancer charity where he loves …

Newest Season 7 trailer for Doctor Who will get your hearts pumping! [video]

Watch out, Doctor! Here come the Daleks, Weeping Angels and ... dinosaurs? That's right! As promised, the BBC has released the newest trailer for Season 7 of Doctor Who and it is filled to the brim with action. This 87 second trailer will take fans on a roller coaster of emotions as it travels through the first five episodes of the upcoming season.
With glimpses of Daleks new and old, a Weeping Angel baby, dinosaurs on a spaceship, and a cyborg in the wild west, fans have a lot to be excited about here. Most fans will also be smiling at the moment where we even see a quick shot of River Song. Most excitingly, it appears that Matt Smith's Doctor will be dealing with some more heavily emotional scenes that we were accustomed to with the Ninth and Tenth Doctors but have not seen much of with the Eleventh recently.

One thing is for sure, this upcoming season is set to be action packed and possibly the best in the Matt Smith era.

JK Rowling set to build an epic Hogwarts style tree house for her children

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, has proposed to build her two youngest children a tree house that will surely stun you. The designed tree house is in fact so large that it requires building permission from the City of Edinburgh before she can move forward with it. Fans of the Harry Potter series will recognize the design as tower sections from Hogwarts Castle. The two sections of the tree house (yes, two sections) will be connected by a rope bridge and have an entryway via a secret tunnel. Additioanlly, the houses will feature, "spiral staircases, balconies, carvings, escape poles, and more." Right now the tree house is estimated to cost about $236,000!

Dear J.K. Rowling, may I have the blueprints for this tree house? And $236,000, please?

I know this tree house is not technically up in the trees but it's still awesome!

Doctor Who promotional image for Asylum of the Daleks is filled with fiery fun!

*Photo may contain spoilers

The BBC was set to release a promotional image for the first episode of Season 7 of Doctor Who, Asylum of the Daleks, at midnight but it has made its way to the internet a few hours early!
"The new image captures something of the excitement and adventure that await the Doctor – and the audience at home – when the Time Lord returns in Asylum of the Daleks. We’ll also make the image available as wallpaper and it will be right here at one minute past midnight – technically very early Thursday morning!" This promotional image is very powerful. We see a battle worn Doctor (Matt Smith) carrying an unconscious Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) past several Daleks, both new and old, as flames engulf them. Fans should remember that this image is not the death of Amy Pond. This is a promotional image from the first episode of Season 7 and the Ponds do not depart the show until episode 5.

What do you think of this promotional image? Can you name all of the Dalek…

Limited Edition 3D glasses for The Hobbit have a unique Dwarven look

Fans were recently treated to the news that The Hobbit will now be split into three films in order to get every piece of the story into the films. Also, as per the newest trend, The Hobbit will be released in 3D. The great news about this is that fans will have the opportunity to get special limited edition The Hobbit 3D glasses! However, will fans appreciate the unique look that these glasses have? Clearly inspired by Dwarvish architecture and design, the glasses look like they are crafted from stone and have a strict geometric look. These glasses are a cool item for big fans (especially since they are limited edition) but I can't help but have mixed thoughts on them because of how uncomfortable they look. If they are in fact comfortable then these are great!

Earth's newest Green Lantern is revealed!

The name of Earth's newest Green Lantern has been unveiled and it is "Baz". This particular Green Lantern is taking on a new look with a new suit and full face mask. Given his name and the sanskrit that is visible on his right forearm, many are assuming that this new hero is Arabic or Islamic. Previews World featured the new image of Baz with the included information:
"Publisher: DC COMICS (W) Geoff Johns (A) Doug Mahnke, Mark Irwin (CA) Ivan Reis, Joe Prado  "Rise of the Third Army"!
Baz, Earth's NEW Green Lantern, battles The Justice League!
Meanwhile, The Guardians begin their final step in the destruction of the Lanterns by releasing the first of the Third Army soldiers!" It appears as though Baz is here for the long run and will be the full focus of September's Green Lantern #0 through to the story 'The Third Army'. It also seems like he will be the main Lantern in the upcoming 'Trinity War' event.

The Hobbit officially becomes three films!

For some time now we have been hearing rumors that Peter Jackson has wanted to extend The Hobbit into three films. Jackson even hinted at this during San Diego Comic Con. But now all the rumors and all the guessing can finally come to an end. Peter Jackson has officially released a letter to fans on his Facebook page addressing the issue. Lets take a look at what Peter Jackson had to say to his fans and fans of the franchise.

"It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie - and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life.  All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as t…
