Review - Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have officially debuted on Nickelodeon and they have gotten off to a good start. Though there has been several shows on the Turtles, none have lived up to the much loved 90s cartoon. Let's take a look at the newest incarnation of the Turtles.
*Possible spoilers ahead.
The premiere for Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was an hour which was definitely the right move. I think a half hour just wouldn't have been enough to sell the show. The show itself was better than I had expected. This pilot was titled 'Rise of the Turtles' which perfectly describes the clean slate the show starts from. From the start, the animation looks clean which is a definite plus. You'll notice a few different animation styles throughout the show including CG, matte-painted backgrounds and storyboard-esque flashbacks. The use of different styles keeps the show feeling fresh and unique. Also, there are a lot of great details on the Turtles themselve…

Are you one of the Marvel fans who couldn't get to San Diego Comic Con and missed the anticipated test footage created by Edgar Wright that was unveiled for the upcoming Ant-Man? Well you no longer have to feel bad that you missed it at Comic Con! One dedicated fans who was present at the screening has found a legal way to bring it to you all.

Long lost Spider-Man trailer from 2001 shows Peter wearing web shooters! [video]

When Sam Raimi's Spider-Man hit theaters fans were instantly upset about one detail in the movie; the lack or web shooters. Raimi's decision to give Peter organic web shooters would eventually cause fans to argue about whether this was an acceptable change or a flat out disgrace. Raimi commented on the change saying that he thought it wasn't believable that a high school student could develop something as complex as web shooters.

It appears, however, that Raimi wasn't always against the idea of Peter using his classic web shooters. A trailer for Spider-Man that was supposedly shown at the Electronic Expo back in 2001 to create buzz for the movie has resurfaced that shows Peter (Toby Maguire) wearing his classic web shooters!

Watch the trailer below and look out for the web shooters at 32 seconds!:

New toy for the Goblin King reveals his appearance in The Hobbit's second trailer!

*Possible Spoilers ahead.

The newest line of toys for The Hobbit from The Bridge Direct has given us our first second glimpse of the Goblin King. The Goblin King is being played by Barry Humphries and is being brought to life in a similar manner that Gollum was brought to life in The Lord of the Rings. Below you can see a battle set with Thorin and the Gobline King.

Now that we officially know what the Goblin King looks like we can actually go back and rewatch The Hobbit's second trailer and get a real glimpse of him at the very end. The large being that falls onto the dwarves certainly looks like he is the Goblin King. What do you think?

J.K. Rowling may be considering two Harry Potter director's cut books!

J.K. Rowling has come forward to reveal that she has considered giving her fans a first in the book industry. We’ve seen it done before with movies but Rowling is saying that she has at least thought about giving fans not one but two “Director’s Cut” books for the Harry Potter franchise. Although she may have taken her time with her most recent book The Casual Vacancy, it appears that Rowling feels she could have spent a little more time on two of her Harry Potter novels. While talking to the BBC arts editor, Will Gompertz, Rowling stated,
"There were a couple of the Potters and I definitely knew that they needed another year. I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think 'Oh God, maybe I'll go back and do a director's cut', I don't know." Rowling feels that the success of the Harry Potter novels meant that she had nothing to prove and that,
"Harry Potter truly liberated me in the sense that t…

First look at Evangeline Lilly as the elf Tauriel in The Hobbit!

Thanks to some early released toys for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, fans can now take their first look at Evangline Lily as the elf Tauriel. Fan will know that Tauriel is not a character from the books but instead a character written into the movie by Peter Jackson's writing team. I will not go into details but it seems that Tauriel will be connected to Legolas in some way. The image that we see if from the back of a toy box and I must say that although it's only a glimpse of the character, Evangeline Lilly looks great as an elf. What do you think?

Fantastic fan art shows Chewbacca battling Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel!

I came across a particlar piece of fan art that I had to share. Drawn by Deviant Artist Gamefan84, this piece features our favorite Wookie, Chewbacca, in a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader! Although we have seen Wookie Jedi in the Star Wars expanded  universe it is still awesome to see Chewbacca weilding a lightsaber.

This was a commissioned piece and is very well drawn. It has a great balance between the finished and raw look and I really like the font used for "Star Wars" on the top left. One mistake that the artist has admitted to (and plans to fix) is that the lightsabers should be repositioned. In their current state either fighter could slash down and take off his opponents arms with ease. Other than this, this piece is brilliant. Well done!

Famous robots throughout history and media gather in one fantastic poster!

Robots have captured pop culture throughout history and artist Daniel Nyari has created a poster that features 30 of the most iconic robot faces that have graced such media as comics, movies, television, and video games.
"Popular Culture has given us a wide array of memorable characters that, over time have become distinctly iconic. This project highlights specifically those non human, non animal characters from TV, Video Games, Cinema, and Comics that give us every reason to feel nostalgic. Inspired by Robert Ball's Goodies & Baddies Prints, I wanted to highlight robots whom I believed to be transcendental across the pop culture landscape including classic robots, modern robots and even some non-robots robots." Take a look at the poster below and see how many you can name before looking at the names at the bottom! Two of these completely stumped me while there was a third that I could just not think of the name.

First official still of Hugh Jackman from The Wolverine!

Marvel has given fans the first official look at Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine from the upcoming The Wolverine. From this photo we see Jackman striking a pose with his adamantium claws out and ready to fight. And Jackman himself looks absolutely ripped. In this new film Wolverine will be venturing out to Japan and squaring off against the villain known as the Silver Samurai (played by Will Yun Lee).

What do you think of this photo? Is this Wolverine at his finest or is he a little too 'cut' for you?
