Doctor Who - Star Trek crossover is official!

Crossovers have been the subject of fan fiction for many years. However, when a crossover is made official it creates excitement on a whole other level for fans.

Starting in May, IDW Publishing will officially print a comic series that will bring two of the biggest science fiction franchises together; Doctor Who and Star Trek. More specifically, they will be using Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series will feature the Doctor, Rory, Amy, Captain Picard, Worf, Data, Geordie LaForge, Deanna Troy, Will Riker and the rest of the Star Trek team. The image seen right featuring the Doctor, Rory, & Amy from Doctor Who will be used as one cover in the series.

Star Trek has seen crossovers before having met with the X-Men in 1996 and 1998 and The Legion of Superheroes in 2011. Doctor Who on the other hand has never had an official crossover outside of the Doctor Who universe.

There are no official details yet but with the Doctor Who convention Gallifrey One only a week away, you can be…

George Lucas says Han never shot first!

Who shot first? Han Solo or the bounty hunter Greedo? This moment from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is possibly one of the most controversial moments in the Star Wars saga. Over the years fans have divided themselves into two camps; those who say that Han is an absolute badass and shot first, and those who think Han was shooting in retaliation to Greedo shooting first. (I am personally in the "Han Shot First" camp.) The one thing that makes this debate hard is that there are two very different versions of the same scene from the movie. The original scene from 1977 and the recreated scene from 2004 where you see Greedo shoot first.

George Lucas recently did an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which (in his own view of things) clears up the debate once and for all...but not really. According to Lucas himself, Greedo shot first and it was never meant to be viewed as Han shooting first. Let's take a look at the exact quote from Lucas.
"The controversy over …

Smallville to continue as a comic!

Last May we saw the series finale of Smallville end with Clark Kent finally taking to the skies and accepting his role as 'Superman'.

Oringially, the series was going to continue as a series of novels but now DC has come forward and announced that they have new plans for the Smallville continuation. Smallville will now continue as a weekly digital-first comic entitled Smallville Season 11 on April 13, 2012. These online comics will be offered to fans in print on May 16th.

I think it is great that DC has picked up the continuation idea and I'd be interested to see what heroes and villains they bring in to the series. Not much is known about what DC has in store for Clark, but from the released photo (seen right) you can already see that they have changed the Superman suit that Clark wears from the finale. Instead of the classic Superman suit that Clark wears in the finale, DC has decided to have Clark wear the 'New 52' Superman suit. I think this is an unnecessary…

Harry Potter films in 1 minute

I recently posted a brilliant Harry Potter tribute video that not only featured all 8 films but their amazing orchestral scores as well. This tribute however is 15 minutes long. While I highly recommend that everyone watch this tribute video, you may just not have 15 spare minutes at the moment.

So I'll ask you, do you have a single spare minute? That's all it will take to watch this new video that acts out all 8 films in a single minute. From the comical tone of the video to the "actor" playing Lord Voldemort this video will definitely have you laughing out loud.

Kid Icarus: Uprising - gameplay controls trailer

Kid Icarus: Uprising is the first game for the franchise in 20 years and it has a lot to live up to. Uprising is a 3D shooter that will bring our protagonist, Pit, into his own modern game.

Nintendo has just released the following trailer that shows off the moves the Pit can pull off and shows the audience exactly how players can do these moves buy showing us the exact controls during the gameplay trailer. Though the trailer itself is a little blurry it still shows us some great gameplay footage.

Kid Icarus: Uprising will hit stores on March 23, 2012.

New Amazing Spider-Man trailer is web-filled greatness!

Last night fans got a special sneak peek at some footage from the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man at special sneak peek viewing events and today the rest of the world got to see a trailer that will certainly turn the tide of how fans feel about this upcoming movie. Until now fans have been split about whether or not the movie would be worth seeing. The trailer is out, and it is amazing.

It should come as no surprise to fans that The Amazing Spider-Man is following the "reboot formula" and telling the story from a darker perspective. It definitely stands out from the Sam Raimi trilogy and is looking to make it as its own movie franchise.

This web filled trailer shows us how Andrew Garfield will portray the wall-crawler while teasing us with some amazing footage. From Peter Parker testing out his new web-shooters to Peter tracking down his parents' hidden past the trailer definitely draws fans into the new story. Then as an extra bonus we get our first look at T…

Harry Potter: A Tribute to the Magic

The Harry Potter franchise, both books and movies, has touched people from around the world in such a positive manner that many spend much of their time looking for a way to give a little something back. Both to the creators of the book and movies, and to the fans that they have been united with through the Harry Potter fandom.

Youtube user themanbatman decided that to him, the best way to give back to the franchise and fandom was to create a tribute video that features all eight films and key orchestral scores that identify each film. Although the video is 15 minutes long, you hardly notice because of the smooth flow that the video has. The tribute goes through each film in order and delivers a brilliant story narrative from start to finish.
"I really wanted to work in plot, sequentiality, structure, and select pieces from all 8 scores. As such, I felt that this "narrative" approach was the best way to go about accomplishing all of these tasks. As mentioned in the …

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Super Bowl trailer

The more I see of G.I. Joe: Retaliation the more excited I get that this film is coming. G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Super Bowl spot teased us with new characters and fight scenes that are sure to make the movie a must see. I cannot wait to see Jinx hit the big screen and kick some butt along side Snake Eyes. With the main introduction already having been done in the first film, this installment is sure to pick up the pace and deliver everything fans are looking for.

New photos from the upcoming Dredd

New set photos from Dredd, staring Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby, have surfaced and give us our first look at some bloodshed from the movie. In this updated take on the comic character, Karl Urban will suit up as Judge Joseph Dredd and Olivia Thirlby will be Judge Cassandra Anderson.

I like that the film seems to be going in a muck darker, edgier direction than the 1995 film starring Sylvester Stallone, but at first glance I cannot get over how big Dredd's helmet seems to be. He knows he's Judge Dredd and not the Juggernaut, right? (At least the '95 film had a helmet straight from the comic.)

Not only was this trailer for The Avengers from Super Bowl XLVI action packed but we finally got to see the Avengers together on screen all at the same time, see a solid glimpse of the Hulk, and see the enemy that the Avengers are fighting (besides Loki). I cannot wait for this movie to hit theaters!
