Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl VII

Make sure to catch the big game this Sunday! No, not the Super Bowl. Let's be honest, nobody watches that except for the commercials (Ha.). The real game will be on Animal Planet at 3pm on February 6th - Puppy Bowl VII.

This is an annual event shown on Animal Planet since 2005 that is funny and a great program for all animal lovers. The show consists of a number of puppies that have been scouted and drafted from animal shelters around the country to play around in a model stadium while announcers call whats going on using actual football terminology. All kinds of toys are put onto the field and the puppies are free to tackle and playfully bite each other. Penalties are called for 'accidents' on the field and touchdowns are declared if a puppy gets a ball into the end zone. Halfway through the program there is a Kitty Half-Time Show usually brought to you by Bissell. The half-time show is made complete with kittens, a scratch post, lasers, balls of yarn and other crazy toy…

Morena Baccarin to suit up as The Wasp?

With screen tests being done today for one of the final roles on Joss Whedon's The Avengers it looks like casting could wrap up real soon. Among those present for the screen test are Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly), Jessica Lucas (Melrose Place), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), and Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs The World). These actresses were screening for a role as "Nick Fury's new sidekick". No official word has been given as to who the 'sidekick' is but fingers seem to be pointing to Janet van Dyne, also known as The Wasp. They might be pointing that way though because it's a major female role that hasn't been filled yet.
It appears that things may be tipped in the favor of Baccarin however seeing as how she has a past with Joss Whedon (Firefly/Serenity) and has publicly stated that she would never turn down a chance to work with Joss. She has also been rumored to have been seen picking up back issues of The Avengers comics, so she'…

LEGO Goes Pirate!

Captain Jack Sparrow is set to conquer the high seas and this time he has entered the comical world of LEGO.
Following the success of such games as LEGO Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and even Rock Band, TT Games Publishing has teamed up with Disney Interactive Studios to createLEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. You'll be able to play through adventures from the original trilogy and even some from the new upcoming fourth film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. TT Games has scheduled the release of this game as the same time as On Stranger Tides so spoilers from the game should be down to a minimum if any at all. This game will be available across all consoles. Catch a glimpse of the game in the teaser trailer below.

Stan Lee's NHL Guardians

The newest project from comic writer icon Stan Lee is the NHL Guardian Project. The Guardian superheroes were created to correspond to the each of the National Hockey League teams (30 in all) and each Guardian has their own special powers that reflect their team and city. The Guardians were officially unveiled at the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, January 30, 2011.

This is an awkward promotion for the NHL but as their media coverage suffers compared to the other major sports (baseball, basketball, and football), I am not surprised that they accepted it. Also, after going though each Guardian you can't help but feel that Stan Lee was just really looking for something new to work on and it didn't matter what came along first. When you look through the Guardians there are many that stand out as copies of already created Marvel superheroes either by look or their powers. For example 'The Coyote' looks exactly like Wolverine and 'The Panther' looks like Black Panthe…

Snarf Snarf!

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has released several photos of what the new Thundercats toys will look like as well as what Snarf will look like in the new series. He generally looks the same as his 1980's counterpart except his head is a little smaller.

With all these little teasers Warner Bros. is surely getting people interested but we'll have to wait and see if it'll be as good as the original that we remember so fondly.
