J.R.R. Tolkien reads the LOTR poem 'Namarie' in Elvish! [audio video]

I stumbled across this amazing video that has an audio clip of J.R.R. Tolkien reading a poem ... in Elvish! The poem that Tolkien is reading is "Namarie" which is an Elvish poem published in The Followship of the Ring, Book 2.

Namarie is a shortened form of a na marie, which means “be well”, a saying used for greetings and farewells among the elvish people.

The poem as heard:

Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen,
yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron!
Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier
mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva
Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar
nu luini yassen tintilar i eleni
ómaryo airetári-lírinen.

Sí man i yulma nin enquantuva?

An sí Tintallë Varda Oiolossëo

ar ilyë tier undulávë lumbulë;
ar sindanóriello caita mornië
i falmalinnar imbë met, ar hísië
untúpa Calaciryo míri oialë.
Sí vanwa ná, Rómello vanwa, Valimar!

Namárië! Nai hiruvalyë Valimar.
Nai elyë hiruva. Namárië!

The poem translated into English:

Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind,
long years …

If you are a Star Trek fan who has missed the classic episodic adventures then there is great news coming your way! The creators of  Star Trek: Of Gods and Men are now creating a new web series that will serve as a pilot to a new television show. The web series will be titled "Star Trek: Renegades" and will give fans a "bold and edgy" look at the Star Trek universe.

This web series will star newcomers as well as veteran Star Trek actors including; Walter Koenig (Star Trek, Original Series), Tim Russ (Enterprise), Gary Graham (Enterprise), Garrett Wang (Voyager), Manu Intiraymi (Voyager) and Richard Herd (Voyager). Tim Russ has also signed on to direct Star Trek: Renegades.
"Renegades will be a departure from previous Treks – delving into the dark side of the human psyche, pushing our heroes to their limits, forcing them to carry out actions that they never would have as Starfleet officers. The rules have changed, and they realize they might be the last hop…

Watch the first episode of the web series 'Inspector Spacetime'! [video]

Fans of Community and Doctor Who have waited patiently, but the wait is now over! The web series based off the Doctor Who spoof Inspector Spacetime from Community is now here! (Though it should be reminded that due to legal reasons they had to change the name to "Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time". But lets be honest. Fans will still call it "Inspector Spacetime".)
The web series will be based off of small glimpses that we have seen on Community and use creative and humorous stories to flesh out the characters. The first episode is 4 min 30 seconds and finds the the Inspector and his companion, Piper, arriving on Second New Old Earth 7 only to be greeted by an old enemy of the Inspector! You'll find that this episode has the right combination of laughs, special effects, and many Doctor Who references (can you catch all of them?) to be considered a hit!

What do you think of this first episode of "Untitled Web …

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 2 gets a title!

Star Trek fans have exciting news as the title of the Star Trek sequel has been unveiled. Director J.J. Abrams has decided to title the follow-up to his 2009 Star Trek reboot Star Trek Into Darkness. (Yes, it is typed correctly. There is no colon in this title after ‘Star Trek’.)
“While Paramount will not officially confirm the news, multiple sources have told TrekMovie this is the title they are going with as of now. It has also been reported by ComingSoon that Paramount has secured the domain names to both and, neither of which has any content.” Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, stars of the first film, commented that this new film will be more frightening and bigger and bolder. With a title like “Into Darkness” this seems to hold true and promise a possibly darker film (if you’ll excuse the pun). What do you think of this title? Think it’ll bring great new possibilities to the franchise?

Star Trek Into Darkness will jump in…

Steven Moffat escapes (deletes) twitter and becomes free from annoying fans!

Doctor Who and Sherlock fans were surprised with some sad news today as showrunner Steven Moffat has officially deleted his Twitter account. Moffat's twitter account was a great location for sneak peak information on the BBC shows Doctor Who and Sherlock. From his account fans were able to get behind the scenes information, fun set photos, cryptic clues to upcoming episodes, or even just plain funny conversations between cast members. However, that is now all gone and it is basically because uber fans were just driving him crazy. Recently, Moffat had tweeted, "Forgive my ignorance - is there a way to limit who can follow you and Tweet you?"

After that, fans woke up today to find his twitter account gone with no warning. Steven Moffat's wife, Sue Vertue, did reach out to fans, however, tweeting that his account had become too much an a distraction for him.
