E3 2012 - The best (and funniest) coverage from the E3 floor ever! [video]

We've all seen coverage from E3 2012. We enjoyed watching developer presentations, game demos, and new exciting game trailers. But what about all the other things at E3? The guests, the swag, the booth babes, the awesome character statues? Didn't anybody think it might be a good idea to cover those things for people who couldn't actually attend E3 in person?
Well Roger Barr did! He has posted 3 videos covering all the things at E3 that wasn't shown on G4 or SPIKE TV and does it in a manner that will crack you up. Dubbed the "Yelling Guy", Roger goes through the convention and simply shouts out all the exciting things that he comes across. You would think it gets old but it really doesn't. Well done, Roger. This is probably the best E3 coverage out there! (Roger even points out [yells out?] one of my friends who was at E3 in the third video! Awesome. He is wearing the horse head.)

The Spectacular Spider-Ham vs Iron Duck!

Kid Chuckle on Deviant Art has created a piece of fan art that is truly a lot of fun. It features the Spectacular Spider-Ham fighting against Howard the Duck as Iron Duck. According to Kid Chuckle Howard dressed as Iron Man in issue #30 and these were his two most favorite comic parodies.

I really enjoyed Spider-Ham when I was little so this piece is brilliant!

Dreamworks set to make a Need For Speed movie

Dreamworks has announced that they are officially teaming up with EA Games to bring a big screen adaptation of the video game franchise Need For Speed to theaters. Set to direct will be Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) with the story being developed by George and John Gatins (Real Steal).

It is being reported that the movie will not focus on any one game in particular but the entire franchise as a whole. Dreamworks will start production on the film next year in hopes to have a 2014 release. "Need for Speed is one of EA’s biggest video game franchises, having sold more than 140 million units worldwide and generated an estimated $4 billion in retail revenue."

What do you think about a Need For Speed adaptation? Do you think that Need For Speed can bring the same kind of numbers for Dreamworks as it has for EA?

Nintendo announces the 3DS XL

Nintendo held another Nintendo Direct presentation last night and they came out strong officially announcing the upcoming release of the Nintendo 3DS XL.

This updated model to the 3DS will boast a 4.88 inch main screen and a 4.18 inch lower touch screen. This makes the screen space about 90% larger than the 3DS' 3.53/3.01 inch screens. Other notable changes to the 3DS XL are the Home/Start/Select buttons at the bottom have been changed to actual buttons (thank you!) and the battery life is said to outperform the current 3DS' battery.

The 3DS XL will come packaged with a 4GB SD card and will cost gamers $199.99 (compared to the price of a 3DS at $169.99). It is being reported that European models will ship without a power adapter but US consumers will not need to worry about this as it will be packaged as usual. (That's pretty rough for European consumers though!)

The 3DS XL will hit store shelves on August 19th in the US and on July 28 in Europe.

Trailer for Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles surfaces! [video]

Nickelodeon has finally given fans a look at the first trailer for their new upcoming show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Overall the show looks very artistic, fun, and has all the familiar laughs but it seems like this will appeal more to kids than it will to fans of the classic 90's turtles. All the same it looks like a show that could be fun to catch. Just don't go in expecting anything too dark.

Voicing the iconic turtles will be Jason Biggs and Leonardo, Sean Astin as Raphael, Greg Cipes as Michelangelo, and Rob Paulsen as Donatello.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will debut on Nickelodeon this fall.

Dungeons and Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness trailer [video]

Dungeons and Dragons players may be surprised to hear that there is actually a third movie coming out for their beloved game. The first movie was hilariously bad. The second was pretty decent (although that's all it gets from me.) The third ... well take a look at the synopsis and trailer below and let me know what you think.
"This chapter of Dungeons & Dragons takes you deeper into the dark and fantastic world of this epic fantasy adventure.
A noble warrior must battle dragons and demons while upholding his moral code as he covertly joins a group of villains to rescue his kidnapped father from Shathrax, the Mind Flayer, who threatens to destroy the world."

Personal thoughts: There's questionable acting, a pretty girl doing magic, quick glimpses of a guy who looks like Panthro from Thundercats (until you actually see him later. But even then...), and a cheap looking dragon at the end. Because whats a Dungeons and Dragons trailer without a dragon. Cl…

Hamsters play a little jazz in their cage in this brilliant commercial [video]

I came across this video of some hamsters playing some great jazz and just had to share it. I am a trumpet player myself so this is absolutely brilliant. These four hamsters team up for a quartet playing a trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, and a harmonica. It actually looks like the hamsters are playing too! Well done!

The Jim Henson Company teams up with the BBC for new puppet show 'No Strings Attached'

The recent release of The Muppets may not have been the box office hit it should have been but there is no doubt that muppet fans in their 20's and 30's enjoyed it. In fact, enough people enjoyed it that the BBC has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company to release a new puppet show titled No Strings Attached.

No Strings Attached will introduce fans to a new cast of puppets in a Muppet Show type setting. Each show will have two celebrity guests and these guests will compete head to head in different games run by the puppet characters and participate in sketches as well. All the puppets have been designed and created at the Jim Henson Creature Shop in Los Angeles.

I don't know about you, but I could use some more muppets in my life. Now here's hoping this does well enough in England that it comes over to the US!

Lionsgate releases action packed Dredd trailer [video]

Lionsgate has officially revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Dredd film. Dredd will star Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby as Judge Trainee Cassandra Anderson, and Lena Headey as the drug lord Madeline 'Ma-Ma' Madrigal.

"In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO."

I am not completely sold on this movie just yet but there are definitely elements that have me intrigued and I'll be excitedly waiting for the next trailer. I am also really glad to see that they came up with a new story for this movie. It would have been awful to try and fix up the original movie's story.

Dredd will hit theaters on Septamber 21, 2012.

Maleficent set photos show Angelina Jolie in full costume!

After seeing the first official image of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent yesterday, I'm happy to provide set photos that show us Angelina Jolie in full costume as Maleficent.
The story of this film will follow the Sleeping Beauty "villain" Maleficent and show us the events that unfolded that caused her to turn against the fairy tale kingdom and curse Aurora.

Maleficent is set to hit theaters on March 14th, 2013.

Transformers 4 promo poster!

Cine 1 has posted the first promo poster for Michael Bay's Transformers 4. Rumor has it that this film is looking to give the Transformers a new design look and will have them be the main focus of the film rather than the human centered story that we saw in the first three films. This would be a great move for the franchise and could have the classic feel that the animated show had. That would be amazing. Along with the awesome tagline "Evil will burn" check out the promo poster below!

Transformers 4 is slated to be released on June 27, 2014.

Mario redesigned into a Medieval warrior!

Craig Mullin has created a piece of fan art that redesigns Mario (from Super Mario Bros.) into a Medieval like warrior. I could completely see this kind of design being used for a really cool Mario RPG. Throw Mario into a real life Medieval setting while keeping all the great game elements (as seen in the photo). It would be a fun and interesting take for the franchise that I think fans would like to get their hands on. What do you think of Mario stepping into this kind of setting? What do you think of this great piece of fan art?

New clip and featurette for The Amazing Spider-Man will excite fans! [video]

Fans who just cannot wait to see the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man are in luck as SONY, in partnership with Walmart, has released two new videos of the wall crawler that will truly excite them. The first video is a clip that shows us Spidey toying around with a car jacker. From this clip we can definitely see that Andrew Garfield is delivering Spidey's comical wit as well as a different tone than that of Tobey Maguire's take on the character. The next video is a 7 minute featurette that gives fans a good look at some new footage while showing us some great cast and crew interviews. Enjoy!

The Amazing Spider-Man
swing into theaters on July 3.

Firefly intro recreated for The Avengers [video]

A true Joss Whedon fan has brought two of Whedon's beloved projects, Firefly and The Avengers, together in a brilliant way. They recreated the opening intro to Firefly using footage from The Avengers. Oddly, the theme from Firefly really works with the Avenger footage and sets a tone that gives the characters good depth. One question that pops into my mind however is why is Loki in the opening credits? Bad guys never get to be in a show's intro. That aside this intro is absolutely brilliant. Would you tune in if this were a real show?

First look at Angelina Jolie as Maleficent!

Since Disney released Sleeping Beauty in 1959 it has remained untouched. But now Disney is looking to put a modern touch on this classic tale with their new movie Maleficent.
As the title would suggest, this film will focus more on Sleepy Beauty's villain and the story that led her to "turn against the fairy-tale kingdom". To entice fans, Disney has released the first image of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. Though I am still wary of Angelina as Maleficent I can safely say that she definitely looks the part and the costume designers have done a marvelous job on Maleficent's horns!

Check out the Entertainment Weekly link below for an exclusive interview with Angelina Jolie on Maleficent.

Maleficent is set to hit theaters on March 14, 2014.

Bane delivers the action in the newest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises [video]

An all new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has hit the web and this one is a great one. This is the first trailer for this movie that really makes me want to see the film. I think this is due to more Bane footage and the glimmer of hope that they are doing Bane's character justice. "Mr. Wayne..."

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20th.

Disney and Star Wars fan art mashup for Star Tours!

Ceth Stifel, known as Thumper-001 on Deviant Art, is creating some fantastic pieces of fan art that he is compiling for his unofficial Star Tours series. Inspired by figurines of Yoda & Jedi Mickey that he purchased at Disneyland, he is creating this series as a "wish list" of mashups that he hopes Disney will soon make figures for. Below you can see two of his pieces titled "D 3CK and R2 Plu To" and "Snow White and the Seven Stormtroopers". Spider-Man saves the day and gets the girl! [video]

During a Dance Walk in Provo, Utah a gentleman in a Spider-Man cosplay jumps in to defend his 'Mary Jane' from some street thugs and then gets down on one knee. Not only did Spidey defeat the thugs but he gets the girl as well! This is a fantastic geek filled proposal that will definitely be a great story for these two for many years. Apparently Spider-Man is the girls absolute favorite character and she loved the proposal. Best of luck to the happy couple!
