Review - The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies! Is this last trip to Middle Earth as good as the others?

Being the conclusion of the epic The Hobbit trilogy, everyone had really high hopes for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. For the most part the film satisfies these hopes but I have to say that it wasn't perfect. Let's take a look at some of the problems first so we can end on a positive note.

From the start, fans are launched into the continued action from the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. However, if the viewer has not seen the previous installment in a while this experience can be a little jarring and make them feel out of place as they try to remember everything that happened. Why is Kili injured? Why is Gandalf in a cage? Why are the hobbits split into two separate groups? Why is Bard in jail? These questions are of course answered towards the end of the last film but this just proves that Peter Jackson unfortunately may have not found the correct place to split the second and third film or maybe there shouldn't have been three films to b…

A bounty hunter, a smuggler and an archaeologist walk into a bar...

Check out this great piece of fan art that combines some of actor Harrison Ford's most iconic roles. Titled "Fordfecta" this piece brings together Rick Deckard from Blade Runner, Han Solo from Star Wars, and Indiana Jones from the Indiana Jones franchise. I would love to be at this bar to hear the kinds of conversations that these three would have with each other!

Mario goes crazy during Mario Kart at all the newly added characters. Will anyone be left alive?

Mario Kart has always been filled with racers from the Super Mario Bros. games (with the small exception of Donkey Kong and Miis) but the release of the Mario Kart DLC has changed all of that. The new DLC brings in characters from The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing but you'd have to think that there will be more in the future.

This hilarious video from "Flashgitz" takes a look at how Mario is handling all these new characters invading his racing game. Mario has been holding in a lot of rage for a long time and it seems that it all comes out in this video. Sit back and enjoy!

Review - "Agent Carter" premiere! Does Marvel succeed again?

Agent Carter finally premiered on ABC and fans seem to be loving it! (And with good reason!) Agent Carter takes Marvel fans back to 1946 to reveal an untold chapter in Peggy Carter's (Haley Atwell) life as she works for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) as an agent. Brilliantly, the show starts off with a brief glimpse of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, crashing the HYDRA plane as seen at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. At several points throughout the premiere the show flashes back to the film and although it wasn't always needed it was a nice touch for the fans to remind them how connected Agent Carter will be to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Everything that fans loved about Peggy Carter is present in this show. She's intelligent, tough, resourceful, and fully capable. The main pull of this show will be one single storyline which will revolve around Peggy Carter helping Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) clear his name of any wrong doing and to find ce…

Could Batman v Superman be getting split into two films? Find out the possible titles and release dates!

If the upcoming DC film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has does anything so far it is create headlines. From rumors to set photos and leaked items, this film is staying in the eyes of the media.

Now it appears that the Zack Snyder film may be getting split into two separate films! A new image has popped up online, that was supposedly taken from the films teaser trailer, shows two separate films with separate names and release dates.

Batman v Superman: Enter the Knight - October 23, 2015
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - April 25, 2016

This is of course still a rumor and there is no validity to the photo yet but if this turns out to be true this will be huge news for the film and DC fans everywhere. Shooting for this film has last quite a long time so it is plausible that Snyder is filming two films back to back. It could also explain the huge list of DC characters that are supposed to appear in this film.

I'm not usually a fan of splitting one story into multiple films but t…

Jurassic World's genetically engineered dinosaur may have a new name!

There have been recent rumors surrounding the mysterious genetically engineered dinosaur that we'll see in the upcoming film Jurassic World.

Originally, it was said that this new species of dinosaur would be called a Diabolus Rex, or a D-Rex for short.

A photo was posted on Instagram by user jurassic_world2015 which was taken down that revealed a look at the upcoming toyline. A new name appeared on the list that appears to be the new dinosaur. The new name for the genetically engineered dinosaur is "Indominus Rex" which can translate to "untamable or fierce king".

I'll keep an eye out for this image in case it pops up anywhere again. How do you feel about this new name, "Indominus Rex"? Are you excited to see what kind of dinosaur humans can create?

Jurassic World will be in theaters on June 12, 2015.

Cosplay Closet - A Stargate from the Stargate franchise!

It's always exciting when I see someone cosplaying from the Stargate franchise. Whether it's from Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe, or the original 1994 film Stargate that started it all, I always love it. I have loved the franchise from Day 1 and have found it to be extremely deep in stories, action, and characters.

Now when you normally see someone cosplaying from Stargate it is usually of their favorite character or race. However, Nyima-chan from Hungary has taken it one step farther and has created a stunning cosplay of the Stargate itself! Yes, as in the actual non-living device that allows interstellar travel. This is the first time I have ever seen someone do this and she completely nailed it!

The Stargate itself, the gray circular part of the cosplay, looks incredibly well done and I am blown away that she went the extra step to make the chevrons glow! (As seen in the last picture.) The details are impeccable and I love that she took the time to put …

Director Duncan Jones talks about Warcraft, it's story, and the direction the film will take.

Director Duncan Jones has broken his silence and gave a great interview in which he speaks about his upcoming live action video game adaptation film, Warcraft.

Filming may be complete but a lengthy post production process for the film has begun to add in the films' many special effects.

During an interview with Chinese entertainment outlet Mtime, Jones spoke about what the film will be about exactly and the direction that he is looking to take.
"From the moment I first talked to Blizzard, the plan was to start our film with the first time Orcs met Humans.  First contact!  I think that for a world with so much newness to explain, this was a wise choice, especially when so many people in our audience may not know anything about Warcraft… it was important that some of our characters would be seeing the world fresh as well, and that the audience could see the situation through their eyes.  A Warcraft film should not be about a good race of humans battling an evil race of orcs! Upcoming X-Men spin-off film "Gambit" gets a release date!

Channing Tatum has been tied to the upcoming "Gambit" film for some time but it appears that this X-Men film is officially happening and now officially has a release date! Tatum tweeted yesterday the date which has excited fans everywhere. (Even if they may still be wary of the film itself, it's still great to have a date.) The Gambit film is set to be released on October 7, 2016.

Could Tatum show up as Gambit in a small role in the film X-Men: Apocalypse considering it comes out in May of 2016? Maybe even a post credit scene? This could be a good lead in to his solo film. The last time that we saw Gambit, aka Remy LeBeau, on the big screen was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine being played by actor Taylor Kitsch. It may not have been the greatest performance but it was still cool to see the cajun on the big screen. Will Channing Tatum step into the role and do it justice or will fans be out of luck once again?

How do you say October 7, 2016 in Cajun?
