Cosplay Closet - Take a deeper look at the people and cosplays of the cosplay community for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Over the past few years the cosplay has grown from a small community to a full way of life. The web series "Cosplay Boom" takes a deeper look at cosplayers and why they create the amazing costumes that they do.

This episode of Cosplay Book dives into the world of The Hobbit cosplay. It shares some truly inspiring cosplays as well as interviews with Richard Taylor (Creature Effects for WETA Workshop that worked on the Middle Earth films). As a cosplayer myself I find it fascinating to hear the stories of the people behind the cosplay and find out why they are so passionate about what they do and that is exactly what this video delivers.

Enjoy this look at the cosplay Hobbit community.

Superhero Origins: X-Men's Rogue!

Being a member of the X-Men seems like an incredible honor but for some it comes with some very tough changes for your life. Among other abilities, Rogue can absorb another mutant power and gain that power for a short time. This sounds great but knowing that you could never touch another living being with your bare hands because of it must come with some very emotional baggage.
"Some people really don't like to be touched – and with Rogue, there's a reason for that. Join as we explore the comic book origin of the Rogue of the X-Men."  Take a look at this fantastic video that dives into the comic origins of this amazing character and shows you how she developed into that character that fans know today.

If you are a fan of Hayao Miyazaki and his amazing anime films then this is one video that you certainly need to watch.

UC Berkley held an event in 2010 where Rolan Kelts sat down with Hayao Miyazaki and discussed his career and the work that he has done. The video is lengthy at an hour and a half but I highly recommend finding the time to watch. It shares some amazing insights into Miyazaki's career.
"A conversation with legendary Japanese animator and filmmaker, Hayao Miyazaki, who was honored earlier that day with the Berkeley Japan Prize (2009-2010). The Berkeley Japan Prize is a lifetime achievement award from the Center for Japanese Studies to an individual who has made significant contributions in furthering the understanding of Japan on the global stage. This event was a part of the UC Berkeley Center for Japanese Studies' 50th Anniversary program of events" Enjoy!

Testing out the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens cross guard lightsaber. Is it dangerous?

When the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens revealed the newest lightsaber to be wielded by a Sith, the fans were extremely split on how to feel. Some outwardly hated it and some saw the practical reasons for the new saber and embraced it. The newest lightsaber not only appears to be much longer than the older blades that we are used to and seemed to have a sort of flame look instead of the solid blade we have seen in the past, but also has two much shorter side blades that look like cross guards.

One of the biggest complaints of this new saber is that the cross guards would cut the wielder and therefore the saber is completely impractical. However, one dedicated weapons specialist has created a fantastic video that shows fans that it is completely possible to wield a cross guard lightsaber without injuring yourself.
"Thrand, Eldgrimr and Marquez devise a test to see if the new Cross-guard Lightsaber from the New Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens Official Tea…

Torchwood may be returning to the BBC! However it's not as a show or comic.

When Doctor Who fans found out there would be a spin-off series titled Torchwood that would star actor John Barrowman as the character Jack Harkness, they jumped through the roof. The show was a huge success and got bigger with every season (with the exception of it's fourth and final season on Starz). When the show ended fans felt conflicted on how they should feel about the news. On one hand they were devastated and wanted it back. On the other, the fourth season titled "Miracle Day" had left a sour taste in their mouths and some thought maybe it was for the best.

It appears now that after all this time that Torchwood may be returning! However, it may not be the way that you think. It's not coming back on television at the moment and when a fan favorite television series is cancelled one of the first questions (besides "why?!") is, "Is it getting a comic?" Torchwood is not getting a comic. It is getting something that many would have never gues…

Strong female characters in video games - debunking a myth! Celebrating strong female characters!

Even though there has been a significant amount of strong female characters throughout video game history, there are still those who do not acknowledge the vast amount there really are and then voice their opinions that there not enough. Or that the female characters out there are always background or joke characters.

One dedicated gamer sought to give an answer to this debate and has created a video where he sings about all the strong female characters that we have seen in gaming history (and admits that there are some he left out). This is actually a lot of fun to watch! (And makes me think of the cartoon Animaniacs.) Below the video you'll find the lyrics of the song which includes all the characters names in order of appearance.

There is always room for more strong female characters but do you agree that there is not a short supply of them currently out there or do you feel differently?

Song lyrics:

"Odessa, Kanono, Rosella, Alena, Hatsune Miku, Lyonesse
Mackenzie, an…
