Dreamworks set to make a Need For Speed movie

Dreamworks has announced that they are officially teaming up with EA Games to bring a big screen adaptation of the video game franchise Need For Speed to theaters. Set to direct will be Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) with the story being developed by George and John Gatins (Real Steal).

It is being reported that the movie will not focus on any one game in particular but the entire franchise as a whole. Dreamworks will start production on the film next year in hopes to have a 2014 release. "Need for Speed is one of EA’s biggest video game franchises, having sold more than 140 million units worldwide and generated an estimated $4 billion in retail revenue."

What do you think about a Need For Speed adaptation? Do you think that Need For Speed can bring the same kind of numbers for Dreamworks as it has for EA?

    1. I am a NFS fan as well. This movie will be interesting. It may have a The Fast and the Furious feel to it but I hope Dreamworks does something to give this movie its own identity.
