Nintendo Celebrates It's 122nd Birthday!

Happy 122nd Birthday, Nintendo!
122 years? That's right! Let's take a (very) brief look at Nintendo's history.
Not many people realize that Nintendo was founded in 1889 in Kyoto, Japan manufacturing Hanafuda cards. Nintendo pushed these playing cards until card sales dropped in 1964 making them look into other markets. Nintendo tried several new areas starting in 1963 including; a taxi company, a TV network, a love hotel chain (yes, you read that right. And yes, it's what you think), and a small food company.
Nintendo entered the gaming market in 1973 and explored their options and possibilities here. Nintendo first issued the Laser Clay Shooting System until it became too costly. Next, they worked on the Color TV Game console, then entered the arcade industry with EVR Race in 1975 (and eventually Donkey Kong in 1981 created by Miyamoto). In 1980 Nintendo entered the handheld market with Game & Watch and then in 1983 it released the Famicon System (also known as the Nintendo Entertainment System - NES) and everything from there is as they say, history.

Happy Birthday, Nintendo! And thank you for all the great years of products.
