Nintendo Direct reveals big information about the Wii U in 2013! [video]

Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, has presented a brand new Nintendo Direct today that focused solely on the Wii U and some of the new features and games that will we see in 2013. There was a lot of big information given from changes to the Miiverse to upcoming games that gamers will surely be excited about.

Nintendo Direct recap:
-Fans can expect two Wii U updates coming soon; Spring and Summer.
---These updates will bring us faster software launches and a faster return to the Wii U Menu.

-After the Spring update gamers can play Virtual Console games on the Gamepad.
-Also, the Virtual Console Service for Wii U will feature games from the original NES (Nintendo), SNES (Super Nintendio), and the Gameboy Advance.
---New features for the Virtual Console will include; Saving a back up of your game progress, play off the TV on the Gamepad, and access to a Miiverse community!
---The prices for the Virtual Console games are as follows:
NES = 4.99-5.99 ($1 if you already purchased a Wii version and are upgrading to Wii U)
SNES = 7.99-8.99 ($1.50 if you already purchased a Wii version and are upgrading to Wii U)

-This year is the 30th Anniversary of the Famicom (Family Computer) a.k.a "Nintendo" in America.
---Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign – Nintendo will release 1 NES or SNES title available for purchase starting this month and going through July (the original release month of the Famicom).
--- These selected titles will be just 30 cents(!!) for the 30th anniversary and will be available for 30 days. ---You do not need to have had a Wii version of the game to participate in the Trial Campaign. After the campaign, prices will return to normal.
Jan – Balloon Fight (Available now!)
Feb – F-Zero
March – Punch Out Ft. Mr. Dream
April – Kirby’s Adventure
May – Super Metroid
June - Yoshi
July – Donkey Kong


-Pikmin 3: Use the gamepad as a camera to take zoomed in photos of the beautiful scenery.
-Wii Fit U: Wii Fit U will have communities similar to Mario Kart 7.
-Miiverse: User communities will emerge, more than one official community per title, usability improvements, and added filtering functions to find posts!
-Miiverse: You will be able to browse Miiverse from smartphones this Spring!
---At first this will be just a browser function but a smartphone App is coming in the future!

-In order to keep quality of titles up, no more new Nintendo titles for January or February.

-The Wonderful 101: All New footage shown at 18:53!
-Bayonetta 2: Special video from the game development studio at 20:27.

-Smash Bros.: The new Smash Bros. will be on the Wii U and 3DS. This game is a huge developmental undertaking and Nintendo needs more time before it launches. The first screen shots will be shown at this years E3 and development is on track. 

-Mario: A New 3D Mario action game is coming to Wii U from the makers of Mario Galaxy (Wii) and Super Mario 3D Land (3DS). A new Mario Kart is also coming. Nintendo will show these titles in playable form at E3.
                
-A new Party Game from creators of Wii Party will be coming this Summer.
-From the team behind Kirby’s Epic Yarn comes an all new Yoshi game that looks like “Yoshi’s” Epic Yarn!

-A new collaboration title from Atlus; Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem! Watch at 27:53!

-The Legend of Zelda: A new Wii U title is still in development and has a mission that is to "Rethink the conventions of Zelda". Conventions such as the player must complete dungeons in a certain order and that you are supposed to play by yourself.

-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: This title was released 10 years ago on the Gamecube but gamers will now be able to experience it on the Wii U in full HD! This is being offered as a consolation for gamers while they wait for the new Zelda title. The Wind Waker on Wii U will feature updated graphics, a tune up on the overall game experience, will be playable on your TV or on your Gamepad, and will be Miiverse compatible!
