Brilliant video looks at the differences between the Starship Troopers 1954 novel and the 1997 film.

Cinefix has created another brilliant "What's the Difference?" video that highlights the differences between the 1954 novel Starship Troopers written by Robert Heinlein and the 1997 Paul Verhoeven directed film Starship Troopers. Although the core story may be the same the film is much different than the original source material. This video goes through and discusses those differences that fans may not be aware of. For example in the film Rico joins the Federation because of Carmen where as in the novel his motives are unclear and remain so. Also in the film, humans have a very arrogant look when it comes to the fight against the arachnids and it appears that they are just discovering the "brain bug". However, in the novel humans are very aware of the arachnids' class system and how advanced they are. The latter especially is a very interesting change.
"Paul Verhoeven's sneaky brilliant satirical bloodbath is becoming more and more relevant by the day. So it's time to take a look at Robert Heinlein's landmark novel written 40 years prior to Casper Van Dien turning bugs into goop on screen. Time to join the fight and ask What's the Difference?"
