Universal Pictures announces "Dark Universe", the shared monster universe for their new film series starting with The Mummy.


"Welcome to a new world of Gods and Monsters."

Universal Pictures has officially announced their new series of films that will bring back all of the iconic horror monsters within one shared universe. This universe is being called "Dark Universe" and the first film in the series is the upcoming film The Mummy.

Also confirmed is that the next film in the series will be The Bride of Frankenstein which is set to be in theaters on February 14, 2019.

Some new casting choices have been revealed as well for the "Dark Universe". Starring in The Mummy is Tom Cruise as the soldier Nick Morton, Sofia Boutella as the Mummy, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll. Yes, that Dr. Jekyll. It is being said that Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll will be making appearances in all of the Dark Universe films connecting them similar to how Clark Greg's Agent Coulson did in for the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase One films. Other casting announcements include Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man and Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster.
