The Defenders officially unite in 11 new photos and a photoshoot video for Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders.

Wow! This was some amazing news to come home to today. Entertainment Weekly has provided Marvel fans with the first official look at The Defenders together for the upcoming Marvel / Netflix show The Defenders. The show will bring together the four street level Netflix heroes Matt Murdock / Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand / Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

This new series will mark the first time that these heroes will confront each other in person. Speaking on that matter, showrunner Marco Ramirez stated,
"“Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York. We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?'”"
I know that I am extremely excited to see these heroes come together on screen. I've mentioned in previous articles that I often do background acting work and have worked on these Marvel Netflix shows which has always been a lot of fun. I know that fans out there are going to love what comes next.

Many fans may be quick to compare The Defenders to Marvel's flagship team The Avengers but the two teams couldn't be more different. Jeph Loeb specifically chose this team to stand out against The Avengers. The Defenders have no interest in fighting aliens and stopping global threats. Their concerns lie in their respective New York City neighborhoods and they have no problem keeping it that way. Jeph Loeb stated that,
"“The Defenders didn’t have a ‘D’ on their belt buckles and a Defenders Tower. We agreed from the very beginning that these folks could at the very end go, ‘I never want to see your face again.'”"
This is absolutely brilliant. It will keep fans on their toes and trying to guess at what may happen next with these characters. Joining the heroes will be Sigourney Weaver as the series' villain as well as characters from the four respective shows including Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Elektra (Elodie Yung), Malcolm (Eka Darville), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Stick (Scott Glenn), Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick). No official word yet if Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will show up.
