Happy 20th Anniversary, Pokemon!

Today is the 20th Anniversary of the original Japanese release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green, two games that would soon launch a world wide phenomenon. (Pokemon Blue was soon released later that year by Game Freak, the Pokemon game's developers, that became the basis for the English translations of the games which are now known as Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. (Now available in the Nintendo 3DS eShop!) I originally came in on Generation 2, so last night at midnight I downloaded Pokemon Red and have been having a blast playing it today!

No matter what year you started playing or what Generation was your first, I hope you are playing Pokemon to celebrate today and joining millions of trainers all over the world to honor a game that has brought smiles to all of us. Happy Pokemon Day!
