Drones have become very popular recently but often a good drone can be very expensive. SpaceGate solves this problem with their new Micro Drone that costs just $35.

I have been playing around with the SpaceGate Micro Drone for 3 weeks and have to say that I am really impressed. (Normally, I would have my review up sooner but a lot of rainy weather delayed when I could get outside to fly around.) This is my first drone and I have been having a lot of fun with it.

This drone is small but packs quite a punch. The drone itself is 3 x 3 x 1 inch and weighs just 5.6 ounces! It has a 6-axis design with adjustable gyroscope for flight stability and has full 360 degree movement with hovering and 3D flipping. It comes with a rechargeable 3.7V 100mAh lithium battery that gives you on average 8 minutes of flight time. Included in the box is a storage case, the drone itself, the remote control (which requires 2 AAA batteries), drone charging cable, spare propellers, and an instruction booklet.

Charging the drone takes 30 minutes for a full charge and gives the drone an average of 8 minutes of flight time. Flight time seemed to vary depending how the drone was used but only by a minute or two. This may seem short but remember how small the drone is. Even still, it is incredibly fun to fly. (The charging cable for the drone has a USB plug on one end so if you are out and happen to have an external charger for your phone/tablet then you can plug into that and recharge on the go!)

When it comes to actually flying the drone, controlling the flight takes some practice but that should be expected. Once you get the hang of the sensitivity of the controls however, you just need to fine tune your flight and then it is a lot of fun to fly. (There are three sensitivity levels you can set the drone to for beginner to more advanced flying.) Getting the hang of the controls seemed simpler than I initially thought it would be which says a lot about this drone. The controls were easy to pick up which is great! Once I learned how to hover in place and control the small movements the rest of the controls seemed to fall right into place. Be careful though, at a full charge the drone can be very fast and can climb to extremely high altitudes.

One thing I really liked is that within the instruction booklet there are directions on how to do aerial tricks. These take practice but look really cool once you learn to do them. I highly recommend this drone for those looking to own one. The small size and holding container make it perfectly easy to store and getting out and flying it around will definitely put a smile on your face. I've been flying it around whenever I get a chance and I couldn't be happier with it.

Take note for younger purchasers that this is not a toy and parts are fragile. You can pick up the SpaceGate Micro Drone for just $35 on Amazon.
