Galaxy Quest TV show is officially being developed by Paramount and Amazon!
Rumors had circulated for a while with no real substance but it seems that Paramount Pictures and Amazon Studios are officially developing a TV series based on the 1999 film Galaxy Quest!
The show is still in the very early stages and has not had a pilot green lit yet but this is still very exciting news. The film was fantastic! At the moment there is no news if Paramount and Amazin will reach out to the film's stars, Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and Daryl Mitchell, but I would imagine that if any return it would not be the full cast.
The premise of the film was that "The cast of a cheesy-yet-endearing Star Trek-like series find themselves abducted and forced to run a real starship by a race of embattled aliens that mistook their show for a documentary." The film was fun and full of laughs and the premise definitely works as a TV series. Dean Parisot, director of the film, returns to direct and executive produce and the film's co-writer Robert Gordon returns as well to write the script and executive produce.
