Disney decides to cancel plans for Tron 3.

Olivia Wilde as Quorra in Tron: Legacy
Sad news has hit the Tron world today as it is being reported that Disney has elected not to move forward with the third installment of the franchise. This is very sad news as the world of Tron had such amazing potential to it and I was very excited for the film.

The new film would have saw the return of actor Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn, actress Olivia Wilde as Quorra, and Joseph Kosinski returning to direct the film.

Although Tron: Legacy made its money back Disney felt that it had under performed at the box office. The Tron franchise definitely has a cult following but perhaps Disney felt moving forward with the third film just wasn't a smart money decision for them. It's a real shame! Instead, it seems like they'll move forward with adapting their classic animated films into live action films.

Are you upset about the news that Tron 3 has been canceled? Think maybe Disney will revisit the idea sometime in the future?
