Actress Michelle Gomez is returning to Doctor Who as Missy.

The return of the Master on Doctor Who last season excited fans everywhere but the manner in which he returned had the fans wildly split. The character was always portrayed as a male but when he came back during Season 8 he returned as a she! Actress Michelle Gomez had taken over the role and the Master had regenerated into a woman becoming the Mistress (or Missy for short).

It has now been confirmed by the BBC and Steven Moffat that Missy will be returning next season!

"“Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener," said showrunner Steven Moffat. "But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.""

I find it very interesting that they are bringing Missy back in the Season 9 opener and am very curious as to "what brings her back". I think a little more time should have gone by before bringing her back but she's back and we can't change it. Are you happy to see Missy returning?
