Supergirl is cast for the upcoming CBS Supergirl show!

Since the announcement that CBS was looking to create a new show centered around the DC Comics heroine Supergirl, fans have been wanting to know who they would cast for the part of Supergirl.

All rumors and speculation can now be put aside as CBS has officially announced that actress Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) has been cast as Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El!

Supergirl is the cousin of Superman and was also born on the planet of Krypton. She managed to escape the planet before it was destroyed and has been hiding out on Earth. Since her arrival to her new home she has hid her powers but now she has decided to be the hero that she knows that she can be.

From what I have recently heard the show will play off almost like a "cop show" where Supergirl is fighting off lower level threats and crimes as she grows up and develops her abilities.

How do you feel about casting Melissa Benoist as Supergirl? I think she certainly looks the part and she has already dyed her hair blonde for the role. This is a character that you do not get to see much of so I am super excited to see how this show develops and I hope that it is a success.
