Executive producers from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. discuss the Inhumans and Skye's true comic identity!

The mid-season finale of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was huge last night! Fans could not believe what they had seen.

*Spoilers for the mid-season finale*

It was finally revealed last night that Skye, played by actress Chloe Bennet, is actually an Inhuman! I had this theory leading up to this episode but it is great to see it now confirmed. It's also really cool to think that Agents of SHIELD is already laying down the ground work for the 2018 Inhumans film.

Inhumans are a race that were genetically enhanced by the Kree and have special abilities unique to each individual.

However, there was another big reveal in this episode by Skye's father who called her by her real name, "Daisy".

Executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about both who Skye really is and what it is like to be writing an Inhuman storyline into the show.
"What was the toughest part about getting this episode right?
Tancharoen: We're revealing a bunch of huge things in our mythology. It's something we've been building since the beginning of the show. We're very excited that we're finally revealing that Skye is Daisy Johnson. We're also excited that we are the first to sort of dive into this new territory in the Marvel universe. That's first.
How did it come about that you got to introduce the Inhumans?
Whedon: Everything with Marvel is a large process. There are a lot of people in the mix and a lot of properties, and obviously there are huge films that have been announced and scripts that have been announced. Anytime we play in the MCU, we have to go through a process of clearing ideas. This was a situation where we were allowed to explore this on our own.
Tancharoen: It's a territory that we've had our sights on since the beginning of the series.
What is happening next in the SHIELD world?
Tancharoen: With us opening up this new territory, we hope there is an abundance of places and characters to discover.
Whedon: We've stepped into a new world, so we get to answer some questions and discover some new mysteries, seeing how our team is affected by 2014."

Wow! This is definitely an exciting time to be watching Marvel's Agents of SHIELD! Daisy Johnson as also known as "Quake" in the comics as she has the ability of seismic energy manipulation (can create Earthquakes of any size, psychic shielding, as well as being an great hand-to-hand combatant, and an excellent marksman. Daisy Johnson's history is deep in the comics involving Nick Fury, SHIELD (even becoming Director at one point), and the Avengers.

I can't wait to see how all this plays out in the show and see what comic elements will be used for the character. Secondly, it'll be really interesting to see how the show builds the story for the Inhumans and what characters from those comics may be introduced. The second half of the season cannot come soon enough!

A big thank you goes out to my friend Sam for pointing this interview out to me!
