Benedict Cumberbatch is cast to play Marvel's Doctor Strange!
It's official! Actor Benedict Cumberbatch officially joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Marvel's Doctor Strange film as the title character!
The character of Stephen Strange was a neurosurgeon who gets into a terrible car accident and loses mobility in his hands which ends his career. As a means to getting his skills back he dives into the mystical arts and discovers a world that he never expected. This discovery leads him down the path to become a Sorcerer Supreme and the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. The character of Doctor Strange was co-created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963.
Marvel has been in talks with Cumberbatch since October.
The film is being directed by Scott Derrickson and is set to be released on November 4, 2016.
