Josh Trank is hired to direct a stand alone Star Wars film!

It was announced by Lucasfilm and Disney that director Josh Trank has been hired to direct one of the stand alone Star Wars films. Trank is known for directing the film Chronicle and is currently directing the Fantastic Four reboot. At the moment there is no word what film he will be actually directing but most rumors have said the stand alone films will focus on either Han Solo, Yoda, or Boba Fett.

Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, stated,
"We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."
When questioned himself about his hire Josh Trank said,
"The magic of the Star Wars universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."
This hiring comes on the heels of the recent hire of Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) who will also direct a stand alone Star Wars film. Disney had stated that they wanted to take the momentum of Star Wars and move it forward with many new films and it appears they were quite serious. Are you happy with this directing choice?
