George R.R. Martin discusses the possibility of turning Game of Thrones into a feature film!

HBO's Game of Thrones has become a huge success and that is all due to the wildly popular books by author George R.R. Martin. Fans will be excited to hear that during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Martin expressed that he is looking at the possibility to turn Game of Thrones into a feature film!
"It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."
Interestingly, Martin also expressed interest in turning his prequel series titled Tales of Dunk and Egg into another feature film. Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of three stories that takes place 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire (the name of the book series in which A Game of Thrones is the first book) and follows a group of characters that includes Ser Duncan the Tall.
"They could be the basis for [a film]. I have written these three stories, and I have about a dozen more."
The characters in these prequels are direct descendants of the ones in Game of Thrones but at the moment Martin has not revealed which ones or how they relate. Fans have expected the possibility of a film somewhere down the line and The Hollywood Reporter expects Warner Bros. Studios to be a perfect fit for the show since they have partnered with HBO in the past for the films Sex and the City and the upcoming Entourage.

Would you be excited to see Game of Thrones on the big screen backed by a big studio budget?
