Peter Parker leaves and the Amazing Spider-Man becomes Superior!
The Amazing Spider-Man issue #700 hit stands today and fans will be extremely surprised to see how the writers ended the comic.
*Spoilers ahead.
The current storyline had Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and the dying Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus) swap bodies. But it appears that at the end of issue #700 Otto Octavius' body finally gives up and dies. Which means of course that Peter Parker himself is dead. That's right. Since Peter was not able to get his own body back in time, he has now passed and has left Otto Octavius in the body of Peter Parker.
With their minds swapped in each others' bodies, Otto has all the memories that Peter had but did not have the emotional connection to them like Peter. So his final moments, Peter explains to Otto why he must carry on the credo "With great power, comes great responsibility," and Otto tells Peter that he will not only continue to be Spider-Man but he will be an even better one than he (Peter) was.
Writer Dan Slott stated that, "This is Moriarty in the head of Sherlock. This is Prince John inside of Robin Hood. This is the greatest villain inside the body of the greatest hero and trying to do good." The next comic that will feature Otto Octavius in Peter Parker's body will start at issue #1 and will be called The Superior Spider-Man.
Will you be reading The Superior Spider-Man to see how Otto does as the newest Spider-Man?

Marvel has pissed me off so much with this. I don't even want to see where this story goes unless it somehow brings Peter back as it should be.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I cannot see this particular story running too far. I would imagine that some super smart scientist will be able to figure out a way to reverse things. I can also see Otto tipping someone off with suspicious behavior or something soon.
