Author R.L. Stine gets set to write a Garbage Pail Kids book trilogy.

Continuing the recent trend that everything that is old is new again, author R.L. Stine is returning with an all new book series that 80's and 90's children may remember well. R.L. Stine is best known for his book series Goosebumps and Fear Street and he is looking to bring back the Garbage Pail Kids. The Garbage Pail Kids were a set of collectible stickers and cards from Topps originally released in 1985. They were a parody of the Cabbage Patch Kids but with a dirty, twisted spin on their characters.

Stine has signed a three book deal for a trilogy series with the first book being titled Welcome to Smellville (cover seen above). This first book will be released this fall by Abrams' Children's Books.

When talking about the project Stine stated,
"“The Garbage Pail Kids are ghastly, loud, messy, out of control . . . out of their minds. In other words, MY kind of kids! I’m hoping to create a book series that captures all the loopy slapstick fun of these uniquely awful characters, to get all middle-grade kids reading — and laughing.”"

Are you excited to read another book series from R.L. Stine? Are you excited to see the Garbage Pail Kids making another comeback?
