Lucasfilm announces that Jon Favreau will write and executive produce his own Star Wars live action series.

It looks like the Star Wars universe is about to get a little bigger. Lucasfilm announced today that actor and director Jon Favreau has been signed on to write and executive produce a live-action Star Wars series. This series will head to Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform. It sounds like this could be the live action television show that we have been hearing whispers about.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke on the announcement stating,

"“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”"
Favreau also commented on his joining the Star Wars universe.
"“If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”"

At the moment there are no specific details available for this upcoming series. Do you think Jon Favreau can bring a solid Star Wars story to fans?
