Chloe Moretz is cast as the lead in Universal's live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

It was just announced that actress Chloe Moretz has just been cast as the little mermaid in Working Title and Universal's upcoming live action adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid.

Originally, Sofia Coppola (Lost In Translation) was attached to this project to direct but she has since left due to creative differences. Some say that Coppola did not want to cast Moretz which was a frontrunner for the lead even when Coppola was with the film.

At the moment there is no director tied to the project and no set release date.
