Confirmed: The next Star Wars Anthology film will focus on Han Solo!

Strap in, Star Wars fans! StarWars.com has just announced that the next installment in the Star Wars Anthology series will focus on our favorite smuggler, Han Solo!

This new film will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street).
"“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”"
The screen play for this film will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan and will focus on just how Han Solo became the smuggler that we meet in the cantina at Mos Eisley in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

Kathleen Kennedy is set to come on to produce and spoke about the hiring of Christopher Miller and Phil Lord.
"“It’s not just any filmmaker who can tell the story of such a beloved icon like Han Solo, and I’m excited to say we’ve found the perfect team to handle the task. Larry and Jon know all there is to know about the character, and Chris and Phil will bring their wit, style, energy and heart to tell Han’s story.”"
Are you excited to see the adventures of a young Han Solo? What kinds of stories would you like to see in this film? Possibly meeting Chewbacca for the first time? Winning the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian (possibly at the end of the film)? There is so much to tell for Han's story that it'll be exciting to see what they come up with.

This new film is currently scheduled to be in theaters on May 25, 2018.
