The official Jem and the Holograms trailer and synopsis are released.

Universal Pictures has just released the first official trailer and synopsis for the upcoming film Jem and the Holograms and it is ... interesting. Although it seems like it will be a good coming of age story for young girls of this generation this film has almost no connection to the original 1980s cartoon, Jem, that it is based on.

Film synopsis:
"As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice."
Jem and the Holograms is being directed by Jon Chu and will be starring Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, Aurora Perrineau, Juliette Lewis, Ryan Guzman and Molly Ringwald.

Jem and the Holograms will be in theaters on October 23, 2015.
