Louise Jameson (Leela) hints that classic Doctors and companions could return for Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary!

With the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who quickly approaching, fans have been wondering if they will see any classic Doctors or companions pop up. Until now all fans could do is guess if the BBC was planning to bring some back or not.

However, one classic companion has made a comment on twitter that gives some hope to the return of classic characters. Louise Jameson, who played the 4th Doctor's (Tom Baker) companion Leela, has reached out to one fan who expressed their desire to see a past Doctor. The fan had tweeted, "If the #DoctorWho 50th special(s) doesn’t feature at least one past Doctor I think I’ll genuinely cry." To this Jameson replied, "None of us knows yet what’s going on, just told to keep the days free. Mmmmmmmmm intriguing."

This of course is not a guarantee that she or any past Doctor's will be returning but it at least shows us that the BBC has reached out to them as a possibility. I would love to see Jameson reprise her role as Leela or even make a cameo in another way. I really loved her as a companion and it would be a lot of fun to see her return to the show.

Would you be excited for the return of Louise Jameson/Leela? Are there any other companions or Doctor's you would specifically like to see return?

  1. Leela was married to Andred on Gallifrey (who must have made an impression on the Doctor because he looked just like Doctor #6) so she would have had to either get off Gallifrey before the Time Lock (Dalek Time War) or it occurs before that point in time...

    2. Very good points! I might be able to see the resemblance to 6 if I get over 6's hair. I keep picturing Andred with curly hair. Ha!
