Nintendo Direct news for North America
Early this morning, Nintendo held not one but three Nintendo Direct broadcasts (Japan, Europe, and North America) to discuss with fans some of the new games that are on their way and the exciting features that they have. Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO of Nintendo of America, introduced the North America direct feed and got right down to business. You can watch the NA Nintendo Direct broadcast in its entirety below.
First up was a 3DS eShop purchase called Dillion's Rolling Western, which features an armadillo as the lead character. This is a strategy/action game set in the wild west. It is available in the eShop right now for $10 and with a 20 hour (at least) gameplay time this could be worth the money for Nintendo fans out there.
Next up was the much anticipated Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS which will be released March 23rd. This 3D shooter is truly packed with features. The game will have three control styles which include the circle pad, the touch screen, and the L-button. Weapons are a big factor in the game as well. With 9 different weapon types (and several weapons in each type) there is a lot of strategy to figure out with each weapon. One exciting feature is 'weapon fusion' which allows you to combine two of your weapons for a more powerful one. Streetpass will also play a big feature for the game and multiplayer will have local and online multiplayer for up to six players.
Following next was Mario Tennis Open which will hit stores on May 20th for the 3DS. Mario Tennis Open is a quick paced Mario sports title that has a great learning curve for experienced or new gamers. Controls for different shots can either be entered manually or the player can tap a specific shot button on the touch screen. Mario Tennis Open will also have local and online multiplayer for up to four players. The game looks similar to recent Mario sports titles but if you were a fan of previous Mario tennis games then this looks like it could be a favorite for you.
Reggie Fils-Aime then announced the winner of the Xenoblade Chronicles fan cover contest that was run through Facebook. At the bottom of the post you can take a look at the winning artwork that will be packaged with the game. Congratulations to the winner who did a fantastic job! Xenoblade Chronicles will be arriving in stores on April 6th.
The last announcement of the broadcast was saved for the game The Last Story. From the creator of Final Fantasty, the RPG title The Last Story will be released later this year for the Nintendo Wii.
