Snow White vs Snow White

2012 is set to see the release of not one but two Snow White movies. This of course sounds ridiculous but now that both movies have released their first trailer we can see that it may actually work. Both movies give their own twist to the tale and deliver a star studded cast that will be sure to bring in viewers.

Snow White and the Huntsman sets a darker and more action packed twist to the classic fairy tale. Directed by Rupert Sanders and staring Kristen Stewart (Twilight) as Snow White, a huntsman (Chris Helmsworth; Thor) is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. However, he winds up becoming her protector and mentor in an adventure to vanquish the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron; Aeon Flux, Hancock).

Snow White and the Huntsman

While creating its own unique twist to the fairy tale, Mirror, Mirror takes the route of a comedy. It is being directed by Jacob Grimm (Immortals) and stares Lily Collins (Priest, The Blind Side) as Snow White. In this tale, Snow White and the seven dwarfs look to reclaim their destroyed kingdom from the Evil Queen (Julia Roberts; Pretty Woman).

Mirror, Mirror

Snow White and the Huntsman may have gotten their trailer out a few days before Mirror, Mirror but Mirror, Mirror will be released 3 months ahead of Snow White and the Huntsman. The battle for this classic fairy tale is all set. What do you think? Can these two movies co-exist or will one clearly knock the other out of contention?

  1. I may see both. I like Lily Collins (she'll be in the Mortal Instruments films too).

I don't like Kristen's acting but I'm loving Charlize as the evil queen. :)
