Nintendo Reveals The 'Wii U' At E3

Nintendo went big this year at E3 with the announcement of the new Wii U and that it will be launched in 2012. A new powerful HD console that will perform in 1080p.

Console Specs:

• The console is 1.8 inches tall, 6.8 inches wide and 10.5 inches long. 
• Plays 12-centimeter proprietary high-density optical discs for the new console, as well as 12-centimeter Wii optical discs. 
• Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite. 
• Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI. 
• Will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive. 
• IBM Power-based multi-core microprocessor. 
• Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with Wii games, controllers and Wii accessories.

Controller Specs:

• 6.2 inch, 16:9 touchscreen
• 2 analog sticks and a directional pad 
• A-B-X-Y buttons, L+R buttons, ZL+ZR buttons (triggers)
• Inward camera
• Rumble feature
• Microphone and speakers
• Home button and a power button
• An accelerometer and a gyroscope
• Rechargeable battery, a sensor strip, and a stylus.

Nintendo then answered the cries of fans to see actual game footage from more hardcore games by showing a combination trailer that featured the following games; Darkside 2, Dirt, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Tom Clany's Ghost Recon Online, Metro Last Light, Tekken, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

It looks like Nintendo is getting back the support of some big third party game companies and that is just what they needed. This is definitely great news for Nintendo and Nintendo gamers everywhere.
Nintendo also announced that Batman: Arkham City will be on the Wii U and that Super Smash Bros. will come to the Wii U as well as the 3DS and will be able to be used with each other.
