Nintendo announces Super Mario Run at today's Apple conference.

Apple held a special conference today and during that conference chief game designer at Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto came out to announce a new game for iOS; Super Mario Run! The game works similar to other "run" games but this time instead of swiping the screen to change direction or lanes you tap the screen to make Mario jump. The longer you hold the tap the higher Mario will jump as he run through classic Mario levels. Throughout the levels there will also be special blocks that will change Mario's direction or pace. There is also a battle mode where you can compete against friends and other gamers around the world.

The new app will be released for iOS this holiday season. Although it is not ready at the moment, Miyamoto told Kotaku that Super Mario Run will be released for Android in the future.
