New concept art for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 features our first look at the team including Mantis.

A new piece of concept art has been released for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 and it shows off a brand new character; Mantis!

The art shows off the Guardians team; Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), baby Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

Speaking about Mantis with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz stated,

"“She has never really experienced social interaction. Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”"

Schwartz also comments on what fans can expect from the new Baby Groot and it appears he may not be the same Groot we knew in the 2014 Guardians film.

"“He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot. He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”"

It'll be very interesting to see how both Mantis and Baby Groot develop on the big screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 will be in theaters on May 5, 2017.
