J.K. Rowling reveals the Potter family backstory on the Harry Potter site Pottermore!

JK Rowling has done it again! The famous Pottermore site that has been giving fans added detail on their favorite characters, locations, and more from the Harry Potter book franchise has been given a complete overhaul. The new site is now open to all and is more user friendly. When the site relaunched Rowling revealed an all new backstory for the Potter family.

This new backstory reveals the Potter's connections to the Peverell family, how James Potter (Harry's father) came into possession of the famous invisibility cloak, and the connections of the family to the muggle world. It is a really fascinating read and very interesting to learn a new piece of Potter history. The debate of whether this is cannon or not is up in the air for many fans however. (Camp 1 saying it is because Rowling said it herself. While Camp 2 says it is not because it is not in the books.) Whatever you happen to think on the cannon of this material it is still a fun read.
