The Wasp is confirmed to appear in Marvel's Ant-Man!
A huge detail of the Ant-Man story has just been revealed and I for one could not be happier! Fans have been speculating on whether you would see The Wasp, the wife of Hank Pym and a heroine herself, in the new Marvel film. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that not only will we see her but we will see her in action! Find out the details in the full article.
According to Feige the storyline in which we see The Wasp is very important in the relationship between the older Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly).
"It factors in in a number of spoilerish ways, but we will see Janet Van Dyne in action in this film, and part of sort of what happened to her - and then we will understand why that is the reason that [Hank] doesn’t want his daughter to follow in those footsteps."Feige goes on to explain some more details that surround the connection between Hank, Hope, and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).
"Another very logical question in the movie is ‘Why are you hiring this ex-con to put on your suit and do this?’ The answer is because he has abilities in cracking security networks and in pulling off heists that nobody else has, which is really why he has to do it, but Hope is infinitely more capable of actually being a superhero in the beginning of this film, and we learn sort of, that’s ultimately when Hank reveals for the first time, to the audience and even the first time to Hope, what actually happened in the past, and why he’s so nervous about putting on that suit."If that wasn't enough Feige also talks a little bit about Wasp's costume stating that we will not get to see Wasp's face because it is hidden behind the mask that she wears. I'm very curious as to how she will look considering that in the comics Wasp did not wear a helmet. The next obvious question would then be will we get to see Hope Van Dyne become the next Wasp? Touching on this, Feige stated,
"There are things that we see towards the end of the film that indicate she could get one of her own."I don't know about you, but I find this news very exciting. I cannot wait to see how this how story comes together and how the film will be.
Ant-Man will be in theaters on July 17, 2015.
