Actor Eddie Redmayne is cast as Newt Scamander in J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!

Look out Harry Potter fans! The newest wizard to star in Potter film has just officially been announced! Announced by Warner Bros., it has been revealed that actor Eddie Redmayne will be playing Newt Scamander in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Speaking about Redmayne, director David Yates stated:

"“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity. I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”"

With further support, Greg Silverman, WB President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production spoke about Redmayne saying:

"“Eddie Redmayne has emerged as one of today’s most extraordinarily talented and acclaimed actors. We are thrilled to welcome him into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where we know he will deliver a remarkable performance as Newt Scamander, the central character in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’”"

Having our first piece of official casting is very exciting. Now that the lead has been selected I would expect more casting announcements to be rolling out in the next month or two. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be an all new original tale that is said to span a trilogy of films.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be in theaters in November 2016.
