Kate Beckinsale returns for Underworld 5!

It appears that actress Kate Beckinsale is ready to slip back into her leather tights and sharpen her fangs as she is officially returning to repraise her role as the vampire Selene in Underworld 5!

At the moment the new film does not have an official title but there has been one other cast announcement. Beckinsale will be joined by Underworld: Awakening co-star Theo James who played David. There is no word yet whether Scott Speedman will return to play Michael Corvin or if India Eisley will return to play Selene and Michael's daughter Eve.

The film is set to start filming this October in Prague with Anna Foerster directing with a script written by Cory Goodman. It is being rumored that the plot of the film is centered around a new generation of vampires and werewolves who remain locked in a seemingly never ending battle between the two supernatural races. Perhaps Beckinsale's character Selene is training this younger generation of vampires or even returns to help them fight on the front lines. We'll have to wait and see.

I have been a big fan of this franchise since the original film so this news is definitely exciting for me. Are you happy to see Beckinsale return? (This will mark her fourth film out of the five, only missing one because it was a prequel.)
