See the new species of catfish named after Star Wars' Greedo!
Science is once again reflecting pop culture and it is pretty cool. Jonathan Armbruster, biological sciences professor and curator of fishes for the Auburn University Museum of Natural History, discovered a new species of catfish and has named him after an iconic character from the Star Wars franchise; Greedo! Star Wars fans will know Greedo as the bounty hunter that Han Solo shoots and kills in the Mos Eisley cantina.
The new species of catfish shares similar physical traits with Greedo including its wide eyes and puckered mouth. The latin designation given to the new species is Peckoltia Greedoi. Do you see the resemblance between Greedo and this newly discovered species of cat fish?
