Huge casting news revealed for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD! Several new characters announced! [video]
A lot of new announcements were made concerning the 3rd season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday and they have a lot of fans excited.
Patton Oswalt revealed that a special new hero will be appearing during next season. This character is Barbara Morse aka Mockingbird! Mockingbird has no "super powers" but is a superbly trained athlete, gymnast, unarmed combatant, and spy whose physical attributes are enhanced to peak of human potential and is an expert with paired botons that can be combined into a bo-staff. To help heal a mortal injury Mockingbird was injected with an experimental serum that combined Captain America's super soldier serum with the Infinity Formula (that slowed down Nick Fury's aging) which not only worked but gave her greatly enhanced physical strength and agility. She is also the ex-wife of Avenger Hawkeye in the comics.
Ryan Penagos, Executive Editorial Director Marvel Digital Media, also confirmed on his twitter account that Lucy Lawless will be playing veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabel Hartly and that actor Nick Blood will be joining the cast as Lance Hunter. The big announcement was made that the upcoming season's big bad guy will be Daniel Whitehall, aka Kraken, who will be played by actor Reed Diamond (Franklin and Bash, Dollhouse).
This is certainly a lot of great news and I am really excited to see Mockingbird join the cast!
