J.J. Abrams gives fans a chance to win a role in Star Wars: Episode VII and reveals the film's first new character! [video]

Abrams released a video message to fans from the Abu Dhabi set where the Tatooine scenes are being filmed announcing the creation of "Star Wars: Force for Change". This will be a new program from Disney and Lucasfilm that will be dedicated to finding creative solutions to some of the world's biggest problems. The first campaign for this new program will be raises funds for UNICEF's Innovation Labs and its projects benefiting children in need.

Abrams states that the winner will be flown out to the Star Wars set in London and will be given makeup and  wardrobe and shoot a scene for the film. They will be a special guest on set and will get to meet the cast and crew and see the magic of movie making first hand. This is an incredible opportunity!

Furthermore, this video showed fans a look at the first new character that we can expect to see on Tatooine. The wonderful thing about this character reveal is that the alien creature is not CGI but instead a puppet! I think it is truly fantastic that Abrams will be using classic puppets in the new film.
